This soba restaurant is located in the underground restaurant floor of Espar, directly connected to JR Sendai Station. While it is part of the nationwide "Sojibo" chain and may not be particularly unique, it does offer a sense of comfort.
"Katsudon Set / Cold Soba / JPY 1,100"
This time, I ordered the zaru soba and a mini katsudon set. First, the mini katsudon. It's served in a smaller size than the typical katsudon, which is great for those who want to enjoy it without worrying about overeating, but personally, I would have preferred a bit more volume.
That said, the combination of the well-glazed pork cutlet and egg paired beautifully with the rice. The meat was small, but it was satisfying in flavor. The richness of the sauce stands out, so alternating bites with tea or soba helps to balance the flavors, which I highly recommend.
As for the zaru soba, being part of the Sojibo chain, it was of high quality. The thin soba was chilled to perfection, and the refreshing coolness spread in my mouth with each bite. It had a firm texture, and the flavor was rich with every chew.
The dipping sauce was a bit lighter compared to Kanto-style, but it complemented the soba's flavor well. The strong taste of the katsudon balanced it out nicely.
Overall, the portion size was just right—not too much, not too little. It's a perfect set for lunch or a light dinner. At JPY 1,100, considering the location directly connected to the station and the quality of the dishes served, I felt the price was reasonable.
The interior reflects the calm, traditional atmosphere typical of the Sojibo chain, allowing diners to enjoy their meal in a relaxed setting despite being in a busy station. The staff provided service with just the right amount of distance, making for a comfortable dining experience.
