During my recent trip to Nagoya, I decided to extend my visit and pay my first visit to Ise Jingu.
Upon arrival, it was just around lunchtime, so I decided to stop by Ebiya Daishokudo, which is located right near the torii gate.
The restaurant has an impressive exterior.
When I entered, it was almost full despite having just opened. The lively atmosphere was truly remarkable.
First, I toasted with a local beer (JPY 550) while unwinding from my long journey.
Since I was in Ise, I ordered the live Ise lobster sashimi (A la carte JPY 5,480).
The lobster was impressively large, still moving and incredibly fresh. It was sweet and succulent, enjoyed with a refreshing yuzu ponzu sauce.
Then, a staff member came to collect the lobster head. It seems they offer a service to make miso soup from the lobster head.
After a while, it returned transformed into a luxurious miso soup. The fresh scent of the ocean and the yuzu flavor made the rich lobster essence irresistible.
I also tried Ise Keishu Okagesama (JPY 680), which had a smooth texture and went down easily.
There were various menu options, but I decided to indulge in the Matsusaka beef sukiyaki set meal (JPY 6,680).
This extravagant meal seemed to bring good fortune as well. The beautiful color and tenderness of the Matsusaka beef made me smile with happiness!
The dipping sauce was sweeter and richer than in Kanto, but it paired perfectly with the white rice!
As a bonus, it came with a small udon. Ise udon is softer and lighter, making it easy to eat.
For dessert, I had a reverse version of mitarashi dango. The filling was mitarashi, and it wasn't overly sweet, allowing for a light finish.
I was also pleased to find powdered tea on the table, which I could enjoy at my leisure. I truly savored this luxurious moment during my occasional trip.
I couldn't choose a number one dish today; both the Ise lobster and Matsusaka beef were exquisite!
This place has become one of my favorites. I want to stop by every time I visit Ise. It was a great meal!
