Signature Chicken Wings (5 pieces) & Miso Braised Tonkatsu Set
Today, I was taken to Washoku Mendokoro Sagami in Komono by a friend who holds a shareholder discount voucher.
I thought I would just have a light bowl of soba, like a New Year's soba, but the menu was so extensive that I was at a loss.
I ordered the recommended specialty, 5 Salted Chicken Wings for JPY 580 (tax included), and the Miso Braised Pork Cutlet Set for JPY 1780 (tax included), totaling JPY 2360.
First, the specialty chicken wings arrived. They didn’t look very appealing at first, but once I tasted them, they were incredibly delicious. I understood why they recommended the salted version instead of the sauce. They paired perfectly with beer, and I finished them in no time.
After a while, the Miso Braised Pork Cutlet Set was served. I thought the cutlet would be small since it was part of a set, but it turned out to be quite a generous portion.
I started with the Miso Braised Udon. Wow, it was piping hot! I initially thought of eating it straight from the clay pot, but that seemed risky. So, I transferred it to a small plate to enjoy it more elegantly. As for the flavor, it was very standard for Miso Braised Udon—nothing particularly special, but it was tasty. I personally like to sprinkle a lot of chili pepper on it, which warmed me up from the inside out.
Next, I tried the pork cutlet with the mustard on the side. Hmm, it was just average. This was a very, very standard pork cutlet. However, since it was freshly fried, it was still enjoyable.
I alternated between the two dishes and managed to finish everything, feeling quite full. It was a great meal.
This time, my friend paid with a gift certificate, so I was treated. In return, I shared a fun fact I learned from TV: "Did you know that 'Sagami' has one character in hiragana?"

Once again, I visited Washoku Mendokoro Sagami as a special guest to enjoy their impressive set meal from my last visit.
While I assume that their soba is the top recommendation, this time I decided to go against the norm and order the Curry Kishimen Tempura Set Meal for JPY 1600, tax included.
After a short wait, the Curry Kishimen Tempura Set Meal arrived with a satisfying sound.
First, I took a sip of the curry kishimen. Wow, it's piping hot! I didn’t expect kishimen and curry to pair so well together.
Next, I tried the tempura. When not compared to a specialty tempura shop, it's definitely at a level that I can appreciate as quite delicious.
These days, with prices increasing everywhere, this meal offers great value. Both the kishimen and tempura exceeded my expectations in taste. Thank you for the meal!
