| Remarks |
We have been operating as Kyoto's first steakhouse since 1970. |
This is a steak house that has welcomed VIPs from overseas, including President Clinton and Hollywood stars.
The second floor, as shown in the photos, features a lovely gallery.
On Christmas Eve, while many restaurants were fully booked, we were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. Perhaps it's due to its reputation, or maybe young people simply don’t know about it, but we were able to make a same-day reservation and enjoy a delightful Christmas dinner. (Phew!) It seems to be a well-kept secret for those in the know.
As we stepped through the entrance, the warm-hearted owner personally greeted us. Perhaps it was because my coat was cute, but she kept complimenting it, creating a delightful ambiance.
We began by exploring the gallery, where we found fascinating photographs of various notable guests. It seems that it’s not only popular with international VIPs but also with regular tourists, as it might be featured in travel guides.
Our seating was at a sunken kotatsu-style counter, where the owner attentively explained the salads and dishes as they were served.
The cuisine had a classic style. The carefully crafted dressing for the salad was to my taste. Although the presentation may not have been perfect in photos, the steak was incredibly tender and paired beautifully with red wine.
To top it all off, there was a surprising ending that only visitors will understand. I'll keep that a secret! It was recently featured on television as well.
The owner, full of playful wit and humor, is simply wonderful.
