I happened to be near Kyoto Station just before 11:00, so I decided to visit Mimikou for some curry udon.
I managed to slip into a counter seat right at opening time.
I ordered the Chicken Tempura Curry Udon for JPY 1280, plus a Large Size of noodles for JPY 200.
My companion had the Large Shrimp Tempura Curry Udon for JPY 1480.
First, I sipped the broth and was greeted by a flavorful curry taste with a hint of Japanese style and a nice kick from the spices—exactly to my liking.
Overall, the curry udon had a gentle flavor, but adding the special red pepper on the table gave it a delightful spicy twist.
I wondered if the large size came with two servings because no matter how much I ate, the bowl seemed never-ending!
The chicken tempura was decent, but the broth was so delicious that I could drink it all day long.
I think next time, I’ll try the Beef Shigureni Curry Udon, as it seems like it would offer a nice balance of sweet and spicy flavors in my mouth.
However, it’s becoming quite common to wait in line just to eat at Kyoto Station…
It was a great meal.
