I visited this restaurant for a business dinner with a local client.
Located in the center of Kochi city, the interior has a traditional old house vibe with a calming atmosphere, and we were taken to a small private room for two.
Due to the seasonal year-end party period, other rooms were hosting banquets, which made me think this is a popular spot for such occasions, though the private room was nice and cozy.
After enjoying some appetizers, we ordered the classic katsuo no tataki (seared bonito), fried river shrimp, fried unagi (eel)—I forgot one more fried dish we ordered, and I also can’t recall which one was the unagi in the photos...—and, of course, the typical shuto (fermented sake accompaniment) and tempura of aosa (green seaweed). The fried unagi was particularly delicious!
By the way, I forgot to take photos, but I enjoyed the local sake, Kure and Bijofu, and ended up quite tipsy.
As a result, I can’t quite remember the menu... how embarrassing!
The service was excellent, and the place felt a bit more refined than your usual izakaya, making for a pleasant departure.
It was a great meal.
