【百名店】歴史ある近代建築でディナーを : Restaurant Cascade

Located in Hakone's Miyanoshita, the Restaurant Cascade at Fujiya Hotel is recognized as a prestigious dining establishment.
When I visited, it had a Tabelog rating of 3.65.

The Cascade Room was built in 1919 and is recognized as a Modern Industrial Heritage Site by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
During a major renovation from 2018 to 2020, it was relocated and remodeled, yet the exquisite stained glass and sculptures remain intact.
I particularly love the sculpture of a white dove perched on a beam.

Our family, who adores Fujiya Hotel, usually visits once a year, and this time we stayed with a dinner course plan at Cascade.

● Hakone Fujiya Beer Pale Ale (JPY 1,600)
We toasted with beer.
Fujiya’s original beer includes a Kölsch and a pale ale.

● Dinner Course (JPY 10,000)
〇 Salmon Marinade with Rillettes and Remoulade
Rich, flavorful salmon. Is the remoulade made with celery root?

〇 Cauliflower Potage
Delicious! Creamy and rich.

〇 Confit of Yellowtail with Chrysanthemum Sauce
Crispy fried yellowtail paired with a savory chrysanthemum sauce. The sauce is delightful.

〇 Roast Japanese Beef Loin with Herb Sauce
For the main dish, I chose this from options of duck, fish, or beef.
It was tender meat from Hokkaido.
Fujiya’s potato chips are delicious too, so I was happy they were included as a side.

〇 Carrot Rape
A stylish side dish served on chicory.

〇 White Chocolate Mousse with Strawberry Sauce and Sorbet
This is bound to be delicious.
Since my child’s birthday was near, they wrote a congratulatory message for us.
(There wasn’t enough space on the child’s dessert plate to write, so they wrote it here instead!)

〇 Petit Fours
Earl Grey cookies and fruit jelly.

〇 Coffee, Tea, or Herbal Tea
I meant to order herbal tea but, out of habit, ended up with coffee instead.
It was refreshing and light coffee.

● Children’s Plate (JPY 3,900)
A hamburger, fried shrimp, pilaf, salad, French fries, and steamed vegetables.
Includes corn cream soup, pudding, and a drink.
Drinks can be selected from orange, grapefruit, apple, or milk.

The hamburger was authentic.
The French fries were delicious even when cold—as expected.
The pilaf had a vague flavor (some may call it refined), which I remember thinking wasn't suitable for kids last time.

As always, a wonderful experience at Fujiya Hotel.
The service from the staff is truly outstanding.
