Fresh and Diverse Sushi Toppings
At Edo Gin, we start by carefully selecting fish from fishing ports across the country to ensure our customers are completely satisfied. We serve our ingredients at their best quality. Your words of appreciation, like "It was delicious!" and "It was great!" motivate us to keep improving. |
It's been a while since I've done a local trip after the pandemic restrictions! (^^)
I found plenty of izakayas in Kamisu City while searching, but there was extremely limited information available (like reviews, etc.).
Among them, I chose "Edo Gin" because it had more information compared to other places!
I walked from the hotel...
I entered without a reservation, but the owner informed me there was a reservation for a large group that day...
...So?
After some hesitation, he asked, "Do you drink alcohol?" To which I replied, "Yes, I do...??" and he said, "Then please go ahead!!"
(๑•ૅㅁ•๑) What's that supposed to mean??
Was it a no-go if I didn't drink? Or did they mean that the sushi would take longer to serve, and it would be better to drink while waiting...?
It left me feeling quite confused... (-_-)
Well, never mind...
I was asked whether I wanted to sit at a table or the counter, and I chose a table.
Looking at the drink menu… Huh? Aren't these prices a bit high?? This is different from the information I got!!
Where's the 420 JPY "Beer (Asahi SUPER DRY, Kirin Lager)"?
And what about the 315 JPY "Shochu (water, hot water, oolong, soda, plum, lemon)"?
Could it be these are the prices for mixers??
I was super shocked because I had chosen this restaurant because I found the drinks to be cheap on "Tabelog"!!
ಠ_ಠ !
There was nothing I could do. I had to shake off the uneasy atmosphere!
I ordered a "Premium Malts" for 600 JPY and the "Shirako Ponzu" that was written on the board and seemed ready to serve.
Also, I got the "Grilled Silver Cod Belly"!
I downed the "Premo" in a 250ml glass in one go.
I added another order! A warm "Shirayuki" for 300 JPY—what a bargain to pair with sushi!
What is this "Shirako Ponzu"??
What type of shirako is this? Is it a different kind??
It looked much whiter and had a bigger texture… what the heck??
As shown in the picture, it was small and lacked that plumpness... so disappointing. ಠ_ಠ !!
The "Grilled Silver Cod Belly" was small too!! Such a tiny portion!
ಠ_ಠ !!!
This is not good! I was getting irritated!!
…But the "Grilled Silver Cod Belly" was delicious!!
It paired really well with the "Shirayuki"... so good!!
( ^ω^ )
I finally regained my composure!
Then the "Sushi" came out!
It was the lowest rank "Takumi", but the presentation was good and overall positive!
The taste was average.
The "Horse mackerel" was vinegared.
Was it not fresh enough?!
While I ordered another "Shirayuki"...
The tastiest item was the "Grilled King Salmon Head".
I heard it was house-made and dried overnight!
Drying made the flavor rich and full of umami—an absolute delight!!
And it matched perfectly with the "Shirayuki"!!!
☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ Pure happiness in my mouth!
What was the local fish in Kamisu City? Was it "Iwashi"??
Is this what you get in an unknown place?
I’ll shake it off and stock up for some drinks at the supermarket back at the hotel!
It was a great meal.
