The restaurant was closed for a while, but I’m relieved it has recently reopened.
Some menu items have been updated, but their famous curry rice bowl is still available.
Previously, the closing time was 8 PM, but now it’s 7 PM last order.

Visited in June 2011.
I had dinner here.
I ordered the champon, and an assorted platter of inari sushi and rolled sushi, while my dining companion had a mini zaru soba and mini curry rice bowl.
The champon broth was light and gentle on the stomach.
I regret not knowing about this place during my time in Kitakyushu.
I hope they continue for a long time to come.

Visited in March 2011.
The mini curry rice bowl I had last time was surprisingly good.
So this time, I decided to order the regular size.
Since it was a less busy time, I asked the staff to make a katsukare (pork cutlet curry rice bowl), even though it wasn’t on the menu.
The flavor was... delicious! Just as I expected.
The taste surpasses many subpar curry shops.
The cutlet was slightly thinner, but just the right size for an older gentleman like me.
A light soup and pickled vegetables made for a well-balanced meal.
Next time, I might ask for shrimp tempura instead of cutlet (laughs).

Visited in February 2011.
After finishing some errands in Yahatan Higashi-ku, it was already past 7 PM.
I didn’t feel like preparing dinner, so I decided to stop by this place for a light meal.
I ordered zaru soba and a mini curry rice bowl.
To my surprise, the mini curry rice bowl had an incredibly appealing flavor!
As I ate, I thought it resembled a flavor from somewhere.
It tasted quite similar to a popular curry restaurant in Kokura Kita-ku.
The onions were carefully sautéed and mixed with dashi, resulting in a rich yet stimulating flavor.
The simmered egg was a nice accent, making it hard to believe this was from a noodle shop.
Though it’s called 'mini', it seemed like there was about 200g of rice.
If I ordered the regular size and added cutlet, it would surely be even more delicious.
Compared to the curry rice bowl I had at a certain udon chain in Aichi this month, the difference is like night and day.
I rated it 3.5, but that’s for the curry rice bowl.
Please don’t have high expectations for the zaru soba, as it was just average (laughs).

Visited in October 2010.
I had some errands to run in Yahatan Higashi-ku during the evening.
Though I passed by this place during my commuting days in Kitakyushu, I was always curious but had never visited, so I decided to check it out.
The aged exterior and interior had character, but the table-only seating area was surprisingly tidy.
Looking at the menu, I saw champon, so I ordered it.
After ordering, I was curious about the noodles, and when I asked, I learned they were steamed noodles, which I’m not fond of... but when the dish arrived, the noodles looked straight and white, not resembling my impression of steamed noodles.
There was no mushy texture, so it was quite alright for me.
The ingredients included pork, kamaboko, fish cakes, etc. The simple yet slightly thickened light dashi was to my liking.
The onigiri (rice ball) included a small amount of vinegared vegetables and kinpira gobo (stir-fried burdock).
The B set ordered by my companion included a mini zaru soba and seiro sushi.
It may not have a modern flavor, but the soba yu (hot water from boiling soba) was included, which added to the satisfaction.
The relaxed atmosphere characteristic of traditional establishments was present, and the service was good.
When I spoke to them at the payment, I learned they have been in business for 65 years, currently run by the third generation.
