Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are one of the most frequently used antihypertensive drugs with good
tolerability and are indicated for treatment of many cardiovascular morbidity. Findings from clinical studies conducted
in the past decade, suggest a possible relationship between some ARB-active substances, and certain malignancies
cannot be excluded. Despite a lack of agreement, clinical results do not rule out the possibility that type
2 angiotensin II receptor stimulation during ARB therapy may also have unfavorable consequences, such as the
development of certain malignancies. However, according to the current official position of FDA, the cardiovascular
benefits of ARB therapy far outweigh the risks. Based on the limited information available, this review
aims to provide medical practitioners with a clearer view on the balance of the benefits and risks of ARBs.

Abstract The renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system
plays a major role in the pathophysiology of hypertension
and closely related cardio- and cerebrovascular events.
Although both angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)
inhibitors and angiotensin receptor antagonists (angiotensin
receptor blockers; ARBs) are equally important in the
treatment of hypertension, according to the results of recent
years, there might be substantial differences in their cardiovascular
protective effects, and these differences might
be explained by our increasing knowledge of their nonoverlapping
mechanisms of action. The number of studies
investigating how ACE inhibitors and ARB agents differ
will certainly be increasing in the future. ACE inhibitors
are the safe therapeutic opportunity for hypertensive
patients at high risk, with a cardiological comorbidity.

All of the following traditional agents for the management of stable angina pectoris include the
symptomatic treatment with heart rate–lowering agents such as b-blockers or non-dihydropyridine
Ca-channel blockers, or ivabradine—the first selective sinus node If channel inhibitor—vasodilatators
and preventive use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors affect the parameters of circulation
directly. Trimetazidine exerts its anti-ischemic action by modulating cardiac metabolism without
altering the hemodynamic functions, therefore represents an excellent complementary potential to
the conventional angina treatment. It has a beneficial effect on the inflammatory profile and endothelial
function and shows diverse benefits by reducing the number and the intensity of angina
attacks and improving the clinical signs and symptoms of myocardial ischemia given as monotherapy
as well as combined with other antianginal agents. Patients undergoing coronary revascularization
procedures or with comorbid left ventricular dysfunction and diabetes mellitus also benefit
from the protective effects of trimetazidine.

Radiofrequency catheter ablation or modification of the atrioventricular
junction is an effective therapy of drug refractory
supraventricular tachyarrhythmias (ST). Higher endothelin (ET)
levels were observed during nonsustained STs. We aimed to
examine the effect of sustained STs and the applied rate-control
therapy on plasma ET levels. Twenty-two patients (12 men;
mean age, 64.4 6 13.2 years; ejection fraction, 41.8 6 11.2%;
New York Heart Association (NYHA) class I: 3 cases, NYHA II: 11
cases, and NYHA III: 8 cases) suffering of atrial fibrillation (n 5
11), atrial flutter (n 5 7), atrial paroxysmal tachycardia (n 5 3), or
sinus tachycardia (n 5 1) were studied, having coronary artery
disease (n 5 8), dilative cardiomyopathy (n 5 5), or no
underlying diseases (n 5 9). All groups went under catheter
ablation (same protocol, duration: 35 6 10.3 mins; rate before
ablation, 100–170 /min in every case; after ablation, 70–80 /min
in Groups I and II and 70–90 /min in Group III). A pacemaker (PM)
was implanted 2 months before ablation in Group I (n 5 9) and
during ablation in Group II (n 5 7). No PM was implanted in
Group III (n 5 6). A control group (n 5 13; 7 men; mean age,
66.15 6 6.7 years) with sinus rhythm got a PM without ST and
ablation. Blood samples were collected from the cubital vein
immediately before (control), and 5 mins and 24 hrs after
ablation. Plasma ET-1 and big ET-1 levels were measured after
immunoprecipitation with Western blot analysis. There were no
differences between plasma ET-1 levels in the ST groups and
the control group (Groups I, II, and III vs. control group: 0.66 6
0.04 fmol/ml, 0.93 6 0.12 fmol/ml, and 0.68 6 0.05 fmol/ml vs.
0.50 6 0.05 fmol/ml, respectively; P , 0.05). Comparing the
control, 5-min, and 24-hr samples, ET-1 levels decreased
significantly after supraventricular tachycardia ablation in Groups I and III (control vs. Group I, 5 mins and 24 hrs: 0.66 6
0.04 fmol/ml vs. 0.50 6 0.04 fmol/ml and 0.29 6 0.05 fmol/ml;
control vs. Group III, 24 hrs: 0.68 6 0.05 vs. 0.34 6 0.05 fmol/ml;
P , 0.05). No plasma big ET-1 changes were measured in any of
the groups. The rapid decrease of ET levels after catheter
ablation suggests that a high ventricular rate can be a trigger of
ET production. PM implantation procedure seems to interfere
with the ET decrease in ST patients.

Acute ischemic events occur most frequently at dawn and in the early hours of the morning. The development of these severe clinical events exhibits a temporal relationship with changes in various hemodynamic, pro-thrombotic, and hormonal processes. The authors highlight not only these relationships but also the potential protective effect of increased bradykinin levels and the inhibition of different angiotensin II (AT-II) receptors (AT2, AT4) against unfavorable prothrombotic influences, which— based on studies to date—decreases the risk of acute car-diovascular events. Comparisons are presented between the different effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibi-tors and angiotensin receptor blockers on factors that influence thrombus formation and myocardial infarction risk.

My theory is about the lovers of beauty who tried to aestheticize their existences in different ways, but with the same goal: to make life into an oeuvre. George Santayana created an aesthetic ontology, Fred Holland Day made a photo composition (Beauty is Truth), which is the essence of his aesthetics of existence, and Edward Perry Warren spiritualized the male ideal shaped through the praising of the Uranian Eros. They used the Hellenic idea as a life-giving energy, they re-eroticised the philosophical thoughts about self-creation and the aesthetic way of life. The serious questions of private perfection and self-creation can be the basis of an ethics of personality. According to Agnes Heller it is always the ethics of one person. We have to illustrate it, if we want to speak about it. So, we have to examine one paradigmatic case to illustrate the essence of it. Az antipátia princípiumának jelentősége Bentham pederasztiáról szóló írásaiban 1 Jeremy Benthamről minden -a filozófiatörténetet az átlagnál jobban ismerő -embernek feltehetően a következők jutnak először eszébe: a haszonelvűség, vagyis az utilitarizmus, a több polcot betöltő kötetek, a Panoptikon terve és esetleg a mendemondák a filozófus bebalzsamozott testéről, mely a londoni University College-ban pihen egy üvegkabinban. Ahogy Huw Richards egy cikkében megjegyezte, "172 doboz van tele Bentham írásaival, egy doboz pedig magával Benthammel" .

Nem hagyományos értelemben vett esztétikatörténetet írtam, hanem olyan egyéni életutakat és elméleteket prezentáltam, melyeknek meghatározó alapeleme az antikvitáshoz való vonzódás, valamint a vallás -a görög vagy a keresztényszenzualitáson alapuló élvezete. George Santayana (1863-1952), Fred Holland Day (1864-1933) és Edward Perry Warren (1860-1928) életművét, mely az égi Erósz által meghatározott eszmének van alárendelve, egy létezésesztétika példázatainak tekintem. Írásom megközelítésmódját Michel Foucault, Alexander Nehamas és Richard Shusterman állításai inspirálták, akiktől nem idegen "az élet művészetének filozófusai" terminus, és olyan életművek feldolgozása, melyek az önteremtő, önmegvalósító, filozofikus lét példázatai lehetnek. Kutatásaimban elsősorban azokra a -Harvard Egyetemhez és a bostoni kulturális élethez kötődő -filozófusokra és művészekre koncentráltam, akik az Európában kibontakozó új művészeti-filozófiai irányzatok tanításait átvéve új színt adtak az amerikai kultúra fejlődéséhez. A Szegedi Tudományegyetem filozófia szakán végzett, majd a Pécsi Tudományegyetem Filozófia Doktori Iskola programjában szerezte meg Ph.D. fokozatát. Kutatásaiban az esztétikai életvitel filozófiai megközelítésének lehetőségeit vizsgálja.

According to Shusterman with the notion of
somaesthetics he wants to remind the contemporary
readers that “philosophy could and should be practiced
with one’s body rather than being confined to “the life of
the mind” (Shusterman 2012, 141.)” Consequently a
philosophy can be expressible by one’s body especially
by a dancer’s body or by a choreographer’s work. I
consider it to be a problem that a performance is not
only the artwork of a creator but also the embodiment
of the choreographer’s philosophy. Not every dance
choreographer has his own philosophy but those who
have a characteristic “universe” and a peculiar style. I am
going to reveal Pál Frenák’s dance philosophy of somatic
style while searching for that “existential weight” behind
his works that is a crucial element in his artistic universe.
How is it possible to approach a philosophy emotionally?
Where is the limit between sense and sensibility in the
reception of a dance performance? Instead of the
analysis of concrete meanings of movements in one
piece of art, dance philosophy should examine those
processes that lead to a certain set of emotions and
associations. I feel that conversation on contemporary
dance would be a relevant topic in relation to
somaesthetics. In my paper, I would like to attune
somaesthetics and the Deleuzian sign theory to show the
spiritual richness of the oeuvre of Pál Frenák.

Vizsgálódások a múzeumi tabu-reprezentáció elméletéhez kapcsolódóan Absztrakt: Bár Hans Belting szerint a tabuktól való megszabadulás, amelyért a modernség annak idején síkra szállt, értékét vesztette, amióta a művészet már senkit nem provokál, a gyakorlati példák ennek gyakran ellentmondanak. A modernség vagy a posztmodern szemlélet sem tudott oly erős hatást gyakorolni a hétköznapi gondolkodás szintjén, hogy a széles közönség ne érezne időről időre felháborodást bizonyos műalkotások vagy művészeti produkciók láttán. Előadásomban az elmélet, az elmúlt évek pozitív múzeumi gyakorlatai, és formabontó kiállítások példáján szeretném bemutatni, hogy hogyan állunk, vagy kellene hozzáállnunk teoretikusként vagy múzeumlátogatóként az olykor első hallásra (és látásra) meghökkentőnek tűnő, de valójában a tanulást elősegítő programok befogadásához, ugyanakkor arra is kitérek, hogy milyen érdekek és célok motiválják a múzeumi kurátorokat, igazgatókat, hogy elköteleződjenek a tabureprezentáció mellett. Fiona Cameron és Lynda Kelly szerkesztésében 2010-ben jelent meg először a Cambridge Press gondozásában a Hot Topics, Public Culture, Museums 1 című kötet, mely nemzetközi kitekintést nyújt a múzeumi szakemberekben felmerülő, tabu-reprezentációhoz kapcsolódó elméleti és gyakorlati kérdésekkel kapcsolatban. A könyv előszavában Elaine Heumann Gurian nagy figyelmet fordít az ún. klasszikus (általa klasszicistának nevezett), és az újító szándékú múzeumok szétválasztására azon morfondírozva, hogy miért nincs meg bizonyos döntéshozókban a bátorság a változtatáshoz. Az ízelítőből nem derül ki, hogy sokszor milyen összetett politikai és gazdasági szándékok tartanak kézben egy-egy intézményt, melyek miatt az igazgatói szándék sokszor messze nem elég egy strukturális és koncepcionális átalakuláshoz. Különösen problematikus a helyzet Magyarországon. Mindannyian emlékezhetünk a Kiscelli Múzeum művészettörténetet író, nagy hatású Hermann Nitsch kiállítására 1999-ből, melynek utóhatásai több évtizednyi csúszással bár, de iskolapéldaszerűen reprezentálták a művészet (nem)szabad állapotát és Hans Belting fent említett kijelentésének cáfolatát. A rendszerváltás utáni fiatal demokrácia politikai és kulturális élete nehezen összehasonlítható az Amerikai Egyesült Államok vagy Nyugat-Európa múzeumainak közegével, az eset azonban mementóként szem előtt tartandó.
