Syayid Sandi Sukandi earned his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Andalas University, Indonesia, in 2003. He was honored with the Best Student Award from the Rector of Andalas University in the Social Sciences category in both 2006 and 2007. In 2007, he completed his undergraduate studies with a GPA of 3.46. After completing his undergraduate degree, he received a Fulbright scholarship grant from the U.S. Department of State to pursue graduate education at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUe), focusing on Teaching Writing (Rhetoric and Composition).
Recently, he expanded his research interests and publications to include: 1) The relationship between English and Writing within the spectrum of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Indonesia; 2) Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), particularly the assessment and holistic approach toward the TOEFL and IELTS as English proficiency tests; 3) Cross-cultural understanding of East-and-West cultures concerning language studies. In addition, he publishes articles on academic writing issues. He explores the connection between ‘Writing’ as an art in literary works and ‘Writing’ as publications, or the language expression in scientific textual images.
