Ignite Leadership Program
At SWE, we’re committed to advancing women engineers at every stage of their careers. The Ignite Leadership Program is designed to empower early-career SWE members to recognize their current leadership strengths, identify opportunities for growth, and craft a personalized plan to enhance their leadership abilities. Over time, the program aims to broaden the SWE leadership pipeline, preparing today’s emerging leaders to become tomorrow’s SWE leaders.
- As a participant in Ignite, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Identify features of each of the six Leadership Competency Model areas
- Describe current leadership strengths and opportunities for growth according to the Leadership Competency Model self-assessment results
- Design a leadership growth plan based on individualized areas of leadership development
- Ignite Leadership Program Format
Ignite is a virtual cohort-style program running from September to December 2025, with sessions that include a mix of group discussions and peer coaching circles. Applications open in August. To maximize your growth, you’ll be asked to complete pre-session reflections to prepare for each meeting.

Ignite participants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current SWE member
- Be a current or past SWE leader OR have a desired interest to lead at SWE or in the workplace
- Have 1-5 years of professional experience post-college
