Met some new and interesting people. Got to be somewhat social. Found a few things of use at a yard sale. Opened up more boxes, and moved others into the closet. Plugged in my new hard drive and began the process of reinstalling everything.
However, some social plans were scrapped, I haven't unpacked as much as I'd like, I still need a desk and dining room table, and would have liked to apply for some jobs. But it wasn't too bad, and getting the desktop up and running is huge.
Well, the Orange Box is almost done loading, so it's about bedtime.
Two birthday parties, one lazy Sunday with a party cleanup chaser, and dressing up to play Colonial for part of the Acton Patriot's Day celebration. All while coughing up my lungs each night to keep me from sleeping. (Although I did remember that I still had some Ambien from my Peace Corps med kit. Ah, sweet, sweet knockout drugs.)
And as in years previous, somehow again had an excellent birthday party. Ever since seeing Free Enterprise, I've wanted to throw a Logan's Run themed birthday. Of course, I was turning thirty-one instead of thirty, but I was still eligible for Renewal because of a glitch in the Computer. (Not that the Computer has glitches, right friend Citizen?)faerieboots and I teamed up for a joint party, since everyone has a birthday in April and ours were only six days apart. (Oh, and happy birthday, faerieboots!) And since apparently Logan's Run wasn't enough, we threw in a dash of Paranoia, Portal, and any other wacky dystopian/post-apocalyptic elements we could come up with.
There were some excellent costumes and people really enjoyed the Calvinball-esque larp where I "ran" to Sanctuary while under fire, uncertain of who my allies and my enemies really were. (I have some more ideas on how to do that even better, next time.) Aside from all the excellent company and great fun, one of the best parts of the party was the cake, courtesy of the amazing amethystmoon.
Yes, the cake was not a lie. :)
UPDATE: And I'm a dork. I want to thank Jesse and Danielle a million times for providing space for the party and putting up with me. You guys rock.
Last weekend was pretty mellow, but Friday was excellent. While the 7th Sea game started late, it was a lot of fun, and I had one of those rare opportunities to break out in song in the middle of a game. One of the characters, a Montaigne (French) shady type, was referred to as, "men like you". Which was an obvious segue to the Confrontation from Les Miz. :)
More singing occurred at the party afterward, where I was pleased to discover that I had enough of my voice to sing some tunes from Into the Woods, two DaVinci's Notebook songs, and some Jonathan Coulton (but by that time, I started to lose it again). And as you might have guessed, one of the Notebook songs was the one about cheering yourself up.
(As a note, I am still sick and starting to wonder if it's environmental factors. Taking allergy meds now.)
The weekend before was a pair of SJ Tucker concerts on Friday and Sunday, and some excellent times at Xmortis. It seems that the Apocalypse theme was extremely popular, as they were turning people away by 11:30 or so. A lot of Endgame players showed up to dance at the end of the world, and while I wasn't dressed for the role, I did end up "modifying" a few people with some of Tesla's EL wires. The dancing was pretty good, and it was nice to get a chance to hang out with spryngsnowstorm.
And there was some late-night Catan on Saturday, which was a nice break to an otherwise boring day.
The weekend before was Intercon, where I played a dashing, handsome, and charming adventurer and dragon slayer, a genetically-engineered bodyguard (who only had to fight a cat), a political prisoner attempting to escape jail (and then the planet), and a Viking berserker. Highlights included, well, being a dashing, handsome, and charming dragon slayer and also winning at the Prisoner's Dilemma without really screwing over the rest of the prisoners. Also, I was happy to see a lot of my friends, although only in-between games.
Weekends good, although at the moment they have little to differentiate themselves from my weekdays at the moment... luckily, my new temp agency just called, and I might have something starting this week. :)
You'd think that after dancing until 2:00 AM on Friday, driving to NJ on Saturday and dancing until 1:30 and then hanging out at a party until 5:30, followed by two diners with friends and a drive back to MA, I'd be totally exhausted on Monday.
And you'd be right. Well, not totally, but I was really tired.
I had a great weekend, full of dancing and parties and friends. devoken, amethystmoon, and I drove to New Jersey to visit with savyakoshka and her new husband. They were celebrating their marriage, as the ceremony was this last September at her family's place in Maui. Since not everyone could make it, it was a good excuse for a big party back home.
On the way back, we managed to meet up with paranoiattaque, who was awesome enough to give me her old iPod. I can't express how cool that is, and how grateful I am. (Which leaves me with an mp3 player of my own to trade off...) It was great to hang out some with her, as we'd only just met in Burlington last month, and well, she lives in New Jersey. I don't go there that often.
This week looks to be busy, and I'm starting to feel like I need to do more work, and be less social. Luckily, I am still applying for jobs, and just heard back with an offer to actually work for a temp agency. It's something, at least!
Supposedly, this was one of the reasons Polymorph went away. Someone polymorphed to an insect to record a meeting of old Capulus using this method. Wound up being a stink out of game due to MA…
Hi. No one has posted on this for a while so I figured I'd do it. I met you at Endgame and then Twitter and then my couch. We're going to staff the same LARP.

I'd want to *know*, but I wouldn't mind.
The GM for our Changeling game records each session, and I think that's pretty cool. It enables him to…
