Welcome to SVR!
The Virtual and Augmented Reality Symposium (SVR) is an event held by SBC since 1997. The event has established itself as an international scientific forum for the exchange of experiences and knowledge between researchers, professionals, students and developers with an interest in research and development in the areas of Human-Computer Interface, Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality. The SVR Annals are published annually, bringing the articles selected for each edition of the event.
The event will occur on September 30th to October 3rd, in Manaus, AM, Brazil. It is organized by the State University of Amazonas – UEA.
The conference is held in conjunction with two other major events: SBGames 2024 – Symposium on Computer Games and Digital Entertainment, and SIBGRAPI 2024 – Conference on Graphics, Patterns and Images.
Venue 2024
SVR 2024 will be held in the beautiful city of Manaus, AM, Brazil, at The State University of Amazonas (UEA).
Manaus, the vibrant heart of the Brazilian Amazon, stands as a testament to the fascinating intersection of urban life and untamed nature. Nestled in the heart of the world’s largest rainforest, this bustling metropolis is a unique blend of modernity and the wild beauty of the Amazon rainforest. Modern Manaus is a melting pot of cultures, influenced by indigenous communities, Portuguese colonizers, and waves of immigrants.
Brazil does not require proof of immunization for entry into the country. Although it is strongly recommended, vaccination is not mandatory for foreigners. However, the country’s health authorities recommend that international tourists update their vaccination status before arriving in Brazil.
The Ministry of Health (MS) points out that it is ideal to follow the vaccination schedule guidelines of the country of origin or residence, particularly vaccines against COVID-19, yellow fever, polio, measles and rubella, diphtheria, and tetanus.
Amazonas is an Area with Recommended Vaccination (ACRV) for yellow fever. Therefore, the yellow fever vaccine is recommended for residents and/or travelers heading to ACRV areas, at least 10 days before the travel date, the time required for the vaccine to provide protection against infection.
Anyone who has already been vaccinated at least once against yellow fever (with the standard/unfractionated dose) does not need to receive a new dose. The evaluation of the vaccine showed that a single dose is sufficient to protect against the transmission of the disease. Since 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) changed its guidance when it concluded that a booster dose is not necessary to maintain protection against the disease, and in early 2022 Brazil adopted the WHO recommendation.
Therefore, it is strongly recommended that foreign tourists come to Brazil with a complete vaccination schedule for COVID-19, diphtheria, tetanus, and polio, in accordance with the recommendations in their country of origin and in those where they will make connections.
Dear participants,
We are aware of the air quality situation in Manaus and other regions of Brazil due to the smoke. Please rest assured that everything is under control, and the local organization is constantly monitoring the situation. You will be informed and guided at all times by the event organizers and volunteers. On days when the air quality is more affected by the smoke, we recommend the use of masks and staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Additionally, you can monitor the air quality yourself by visiting the website:
