ReThink Awards

WHAT ARE THE ReTHINK AWARDS?

The ReThink Awards are SERI’s way of recognizing and celebrating the organizations that have created systems-level impact toward the sustainability of electronics by rethinking.

These organizations are not making incremental improvements but are catalyzing changes that could transform entire approaches to electronics, industry wide.

They are the disruptors. The challengers. The leaders. They go above and beyond what’s required or expected. They take the first big leaps forward and make it just a little bit easier for others to follow. And they are the ones who dare to ask, “what if?” Because doing the same things in the same ways will just give us more of the same. And that isn’t sustainable.

AWARDS CRITERIA

2025 ReTHINK AWARD WINNERS

The response to our first ReThink Awards proved what we already knew: organizations across the electronics lifecycle are fundamentally reimagining what’s possible. From dozens of nominations showcasing breakthrough thinking, three stood out for creating the kind of systems-level change that makes the entire industry rethink its approach.

Framework

Framework is honored for driving real change in electronics through modular laptop designs that show products can be both high-performance and enjoyable to use while being fully repairable. Their efforts have set new benchmarks for sustainable technology, extending product lifespans while reducing waste.

HP Renew Solutions

HP Renew Solutions demonstrates that certified refurbished devices can deliver enterprise-grade quality without compromise, while advancing circular economy principles at scale. Their approach to device lifecycle management, from refurbishment processes to carbon-neutral services, helps organizations meet both their IT performance needs and sustainability goals.

In2tec

In2tec has developed innovative technologies that make component reuse practical and scalable, fundamentally changing how the electronics industry recovers and redeploys valuable materials. Their work demonstrates that circular electronics isn’t just an aspiration but an achievable reality that protects both resources and the planet.

These pioneers were recognized at eSummit 2025 in Minneapolis, receiving awards crafted by artist Steve Heller from donated electronic components and embodying the very transformation these awards celebrate.

 NOMINATION FORM

Nominations are now closed for the 2025 Awards, however, we always want to hear about the great work organizations are doing and the positive impacts they are making toward electronics sustainability through ReThinking.

We encourage you to submit a nomination for consideration for the 2026 ReThink Awards.

THE ART OF ReTHINKING

When we were thinking about the physical awards, we wanted to create something that embodied the spirit of thinking differently on the way to electronics sustainability. And then it hit us. What if we took what most people would consider worthless – disassembled parts and pieces from end-of-life electronics – and turned them into something valuable – unique pieces of art?

Planning for the 2025 awards, the first task was sourcing materials.

Fortunately, PAR Recycle Works in Philadelphia saw the vision and generously donated a box of parts for the project. PAR stands for People Advancing Reintegration and like SERI, is a nonprofit organization with a strong mission.

ReThink Awards

Next we had to find an artist who would also embrace the vision, and by pure chance, we found Steve Heller, an artist outside of Woodstock, NY who works almost exclusively with materials that others’ see as waste. Steve was immediately excited by the project, and we let his creativity run free.
