You can export a copy of your child’s learning journal at any point on Tapestry and either download a PDF copy of this or purchase a printed book copy.
To export a copy of your child’s journal, you will need to be logged in through the browser version of Tapestry (via tapestryjournal.com) and not the app.
Navigating to your child's profile
Once you’ve logged in to your Tapestry account, you’ll need to select the option to see your child’s profile from the navigation menu on the left-hand side.
If you have multiple children on the same Tapestry account, instead of seeing ‘[Child’s name] Profile’, you will see Children’s Profiles. You will need to click on this and then select the profile of the child you want to export the journal for.
Exporting the PDF
Once on your child’s profile page, you just need to click on the Journal of [Child’s name] option in the Quick Links section.
When viewing your child’s journal, you will see a button at the top that says Create PDF of [Child’s name] journal. Click on this to proceed.

Before you proceed with the exporting the journal, you’ll just need to check you’re happy with all the options for the PDF.
The date range by default will be from the child’s first observation and to their most recent one. If you want their journal for a specific period you can change either, or both, of these dates.
In the Observations section you can choose to include:
- Group observations
- Observations created by yourself and other relatives that you are able to see
- Comments on observations
- Any linked flags you have been given permission to view
Please note, the journal export will only include observations that have been published in your child’s journal. It will not include any that are not in journal.
In the Cover Page section you can choose what text you would like to be shown on the front cover, this is split across the top and bottom line.
When you’re happy with everything on this screen, click Submit at the bottom.
After exporting the journal, you will then see a message confirming the PDF is now queued for generation.
To download it once it’s available, click on View your Downloads.
Downloading the journal
You can access your downloads section at any time on your account by selecting Downloads from the navigation menu on the left-hand side.
Here you will be able to see the PDF you have exported.
You have the option to either download the PDF or you can order a printed book copy.
Please note, PDF journals are only available to download for 90 days, after this point they will be deleted and you would need to re-export the journal.
