It ensures that only <strong>YOU<\/strong> can access your account, even if someone knows your password.<\/p>\n<h2>How it works<\/h2>\n<p>When your account is protected with 2-Step Authentication, logging in to your webmail requires two methods of authentication: your email account password and a verification code that\u2019s only available to you.<\/p>\n<p>2-Step Authentication also ensures hackers can\u2019t access your account via third-party applications. In order to configure your email account in third-party applications (including email clients like Outlook, eM Client, Apple Mail, etc.), you must use a unique \u201cApplication Password\u201d that is only accessible by logging into your webmail account.<\/p>\n<h2>Configuring 2-Step Authentication<\/h2>\n<p>You can configure 2-Step Authentication from within your webmail account settings (under <strong>SETTINGS &gt; ACCOUNT &gt; 2-STEP AUTHENTICATION &gt; [ENABLE]<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9144\" src=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep01-300x212.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep01-300x212.png 300w, https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep01.png 729w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first step in configuring 2-Step Authentication is choosing your preferred verification method: Authenticator App or Recovery Email Address.<\/p>\n<h2>Retrieve Code via Recovery Email Address<\/h2>\n<p>Each time you log in, the verification code will be sent to an alternative email address.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select <strong>Recovery Email Address<\/strong> from the <strong>Verification Methods<\/strong> dropdown.\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9145\" src=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep02-271x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"271\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep02-271x300.png 271w, https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep02.png 462w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 271px) 100vw, 271px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Enter and confirm the Recovery Email Address that will be used to retrieve the verification code. (This email address will automatically be used as the Recovery Email Address used for resetting your account password as well.)<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>[NEXT]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Wait a moment for the verification code to be emailed. verification code from an authenticator app.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Install an authenticator app, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/accounts\/answer\/1066447?hl=en&amp;ref_topic=2954345\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/account\/authenticator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Microsoft<\/a> Authenticator, <a href=\"https:\/\/authy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Authy<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/lastpass.com\/auth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">LastPass<\/a> on your phone or computer.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Authenticator App<\/strong> from the <strong>Verification Methods<\/strong> dropdown.\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9147\" src=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep03-271x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"271\" height=\"300\" (max-width: 271px) 100vw, 271px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Enter and confirm a Recovery Email Address that will be used as an alternative method to retrieve the verification code. If your authenticator app is not accessible, the verification code will be sent to this address instead. (This email address will automatically be used as the Recovery Email Address used for resetting your account password as well.)<\/li>\n<li>Click Next. A QR code will appear on the next page.\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep04.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9148\" src=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep04-300x270.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep04-300x270.png 300w, https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/twostep04.png 461w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Open the Google Authenticator app. Click \u201c<strong>BEGIN SETUP<\/strong>\u201d or use the plus (+) icon to add a new token.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Scan QR Code<\/strong> and use your phone\u2019s camera to scan the code that\u2019s displayed in your webmail. A new token will be added to Google Authenticator.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the token\u2019s 6-digit code into the field in your webmail.<\/li>\n<li>(If you can\u2019t scan the QR code, click on \u201c<strong>Can\u2019t scan the QR code?<\/strong>\u201d in your webmail. In the Authenticator app, choose to create a new token by Manual entry. In the Account field, enter a token descriptor, such as the username of your account. In the Key field, type in the secret key that\u2019s displayed in the webmail. Then enter the token\u2019s 6-digit code into your webmail.)<\/li>\n<li>Click Check to confirm the verification code and complete the 2-Step Authentication setup.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Finding Your Application Password For Email Clients and Mobile Devices<\/h2>\n<p>Once 2-Step Authentication is enabled on your email account then any email clients (such as Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, MacOS Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, eM Client, etc.) and Mobile Devices (such as Apple iPhone\/iPad or Android) that are setup for IMAP\/POP\/SMTP will need to configure them to use the Application Password to connect to your account instead of your regular password. To find your Application Password follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In your webmail go to <strong>SETTINGS &gt; ACCOUNT &gt; 2-STEP AUTHENTICATION<\/strong> (you should already be there if you just followed the steps above)<\/li>\n<li>Click the Eye icon next to <strong><strong>IMAP\/POP\/SMTP (Most email clients)<\/strong><\/strong>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/apppassword.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-9143\" src=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/apppassword-248x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/apppassword-248x300.png 248w, https:\/\/support.projecta.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/apppassword.png 399w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>You can copy &amp; paste the code into the password field for your email account in your email client&#8217;s settings (please note that for MacOS &amp; Apple devices you will have to enter this Application Password for both the Incoming Server password and the Outgoing Server password).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2-Step Authentication adds an extra layer of protection to your email account.
