Thus, the article analyzes the forms, paradigms and levels of Turkish involvement and intervention and the effect of the Arab Spring on Turkey's activism, perceptions, decisions, image and role and responses towards these new developments. The article is threefold; the first part theorizes the factors affecting decision-making and foreign policy in general, and special attention is paid to the Turkish case. Throughout the course of the second part, Turkey's activism before the outbreak of the Arab Spring is highlighted and a number of hypotheses explaining Turkey's role in the Arab World are examined. This includes inspecting the inception of the term the "Turkish Model" through analyzing a number of polls on Arabs' perceptions towards Turkey. The third part analyzes the patterns of Turkish official positions, reactions and variation in Turkey's foreign policy following the advent of Arab revolts. This includes as well analysis of the polls on Arabs' perceptions towards Turkey and the current status of Turkey's foreign policy and role. This article constitutes an important piece of literature as it shows the cause effect of the Arab Spring on Turkey's foreign policy and hence impact of the variation of Turkish foreign policy on its status in the Arab World.

Nationalism and sectarian (ethno-confessional) problems are among several issues, yet they constitute a source of ongoing turbulence. It is my contention that the Great War and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire were at the root of all these problems. In an effort to draw conclusions and a working prognosis, this article focuses on two aspects of the impact and repercussions of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire: firstly the rise of nationalism, and secondly the emergence contemporary Islamic movements and sectarian calamity.

Scholars started to focus on the issue of democracy in the Arab world, as it has gained a great deal of attention with the advent of the Arab Spring. This article espouses a nuanced approach in addressing the issue of democracy in the Arab world, where we will try to draw some relevant conclusions of the future course of events in the region in light of the ongoing Arab Spring. Keyword: Arabs, the Arab World, Islam, the Arab Spring, Democracy

Global powers found in the recent developments an opportunity to chart their way into the region; sending troops and reinforcements, rebuilding alliances and restoring old relations. Amidst this chaotic environment, a number of regional forces opted to adopt a different approach: soft power. It is obvious that such forces have found in soft power an efficient tool that can achieve what tanks and jets failed to do. In this article, four soft power models in the Middle East are assessed and analysed: Turkey, Iran, Qatar and Oman.

However, with the advent of the Arab Spring, things changed and the role portrayed for Turkey by the United States has been declining, especially in light of the rise of another regional power: Iran.

As Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime weakened, the Russians intensified their military support dramatically. Recently, the Russian ‘Caesar’ opted to expand his role in Syria to include direct intervention against enemies of the regime. The move towards direct intervention constitutes a revolution in Russia’s role in the Middle East and portends a deeper shift in the region.

The nascent entity emerged suddenly and quickly expanded. Its brutality has commanded widespread attention and generated mounting concern. A few months ago, ISIS entered its second year, demonstrating a unique ability to survive despite being targeted by joint international efforts and military campaigns. This article takes a deep look at the life of IS, assesses its achievements and attempts to answer the question: will IS seek official relations and international recognition?

But the arrival of the Arab Spring heralded a deep change in the region. Turkey’s prominence began to fade and Iran’s potential appeared to be rising with the progress it is making in nuclear negotiations. Further developments in the region have continued to surprise observers, especially the emergence of the ascendant force that is the Islamic State (IS).

The scenario was cloned in most Arab Spring countries. Alas, hopeful revolution turned into belligerence, then into strife followed by a war, as if a new regional order was endorsed to guarantee instability and chaos in the region. This new regional order has markedly new features and novel actors. The feature most starkly apparent is the rise of non-state actors, which have bolstered their presence and influence across the region, disregarding borders and ignoring the strategic equations that ruled the region for decades.

While the Arab revolts had arguably caused an earth-shattering effect, not only in the region, but also in the whole world, they have revealed Turkey's real weight and its potentials, as well as hidden challenges. This paper tries to examine the changes in Turkish Foreign Policy under the Justice and Development Party since 2002, primarily towards the Arab World and Israel. It will also analyze the various theories dovetailed with Turkey's new

Is it the beginning of a new violent era that may not spare any nation? What is that radicalism wants to achieve by committing such acts? Why is this happening? And is there a solution? These are few questions that appear in the daily debates and articles in the aftermath of the Paris events. It is crucial to investigate the backgrounds of this state of affairs, particularly from a Middle Eastern and Muslim perspective, in order to provide sound analysis and practical prognosis.

Israeli officials repeat continuously that there is no Palestinian peace partner and accuse Abbas and his Palestinian Authority of flexing their diplomatic muscles in an attempt to isolate Israel internationally and take unilateral steps to achieve statehood. However, it would be outlandish to imagine that the Palestinians could succeed in such an approach (if it is true) without a minimum international understanding of the Palestinian narrative. In order to fully comprehend this state of affairs, it is crucial to make an assessment of the positions and announcements of both sides.

When Egypt joined Tunisia a few weeks later, hopes mounted and everyone started to think that the long-awaited moment had finally arrived. This feeling further intensified with the Yemeni revolution and the early stages of the revolutions in Libya and Syria, and a new order was anticipated. Nevertheless, the trajectory of events took things in a completely different direction. Some opted to see the recent downward spiral as a conspiracy theory, while others saw in these events a natural outcome of an ignorance planted by corrupt rulers over decades.

The paper will enunciate the term the "Arab spring" as a phenomenon, examining its contours though practical and theoretically accepted ‘norms’. Actual forces, whether internal or external, will be contextualized within a theoretical framework in order to introduce an innovative analysis of the current conditions in the region, in an effort to draw some relevant conclusions and provide a working prognosis of the future course of events.

With the previous offensives launched by Israel on Gaza, several military goals were declared. This time, "Operation Protective Edge" comes within a different context, with new domestic, regional and international factors at play. These conditions, by and large, are more prosaic and complex and have been key elements in determining Israel's goals for this operation, as part of a larger strategy that goes beyond the war itself.
