To effectively manage the maintenance of the road network in conditions of limited financial resources, maintenance is examined through three interrelated management functions of planning: implementation, monitoring, and maintenance control. This paper includes an analysis of current and relevant papers on this topic. Based on the conducted analysis, the paper gives a theoretical framework and proposes a management model for road network maintenance between urban areas. This model supports the previously mentioned management functions using Multicriteria Decision-Making Methods. In this context, the paper gives description of the concept management by projects and its connection with strategic management and the fundamental assumptions for its application. The first of these assumptions is a corresponding change in the organization. It includes the introduction of a project organization or appropriate organizational structure, the development of organizational and project culture and the introduction of teamwork that is of particular importance for management by projects. In this paper, the emphasis is on the importance of human resource management in practice through recognition of human factor as the key potential of a successful construction company. This paper deals with the importance of rewarding the employee as special practice of human resource management and presents a proposed model of rewarding the employee in real construction company.
This paper gives an overview of the emergence and development of different fields of project man... more This paper gives an overview of the emergence and development of different fields of project management and different methodologies or approaches to project management, which includes traditional approach, agile methodologies, adaptive project environment and other project environments. In addition to these methodologies, we presented the unique Project Cycle Management (PCM) methodology for the planning and implementation of projects and programmes funded by different EU funds. While presenting these methodologies, we highlighted their good and bad sides, focusing particularly on the importance of these insights in choosing a project management methodology in each case. To conclude, each project is unique, which is the key feature of each project and therefore, it requires a unique project management methodology. Finally, none of the existing methodologies is suitable for all types of projects, and for this reason, further development of the area is necessary. It can be done through the improvement of existing or development of new methodologies in the field of project management.
