playing this game feels like doing chores

I have played around 2 hours of DUSK, and honestly, I am not very impressed yet. At first, the style was cool. It reminded me of playing Quake as a kid, and I can definitely see why people respect this game, especially for its role in the boomer shooter revival. The atmosphere and retro look all make a strong first impression. But after a while, it started to feel very repetitive to me. A lot of the combat feels like being thrown into arenas with too much happening at once, too much jumping around, and not enough variety to keep me fully engaged. I understand the appeal, but for now it feels more chaotic than fun. Maybe it gets better later, and I respect its influence, but judging from what I have played, this game feels mediocre. Right now, there are more interesting alternatives in the genre.
