Long time DW player. The story was corny as usual but the delivery just didn't work for me. The music looped way too quickly and honestly gave me a headache to listen to. The duel system was interesting but ended up being mid in practice. Damage scaling was awkward with the officers. The boss fights were annoying. Most importantly, You cannot play as the whole cast. They are adjutants to the new MC who is the most milk-toast bland self insert I've had the displeasure of projecting into a game.

I was interested to see how they did the histories of the families prior to the war but was utterly disappointed.

I don't usually write reviews but as a fan of the series I really loved what they did. It was a little different not being able to play as the famous warriors but the battle mechanics that they have makes it so that you're not just spamming buttons and running. The only thing I wish they get to do is add multiplayer and a versus mode like in DW4. It may not be the most popular opinion but I'd love a Dynasty Warrior where we have the same storyline but you can play with friends and maybe character creation.

Overall I love this game alot!

The game is alot of fun, but at a normally $70 price tag its just not worth that much. The balancing on the higher difficulties ruin some of the charm for its major story points. That kinda thing is fine on release, but this long after feels like laziness.

The clothing options are basically nonexistent, and constantly switch you back for different cut scenes so they end up not mattering. You have zero style the whole game while everyone else looks awesome womp womp.

Alot of characters get more personality in the game, but others basically don't even have one. The doc that travels with you is just padding. "I notice that when you walk you use your feet. I will need to observe you more to finalize this theory." He just sounds dumb, and does nothing aside from following you out the inn.

The illusion of choice is the entire game. Hurry pick an option: A) Run B) Flee C) Escape. Everything plays out exactly the same. Literally just weird way to engage with a cutscene where your character isn't even voiced so it literally means nothing ever.

Combat is the best part of the game, but if you enjoy the hardest difficulty you will simple be unable to engage with certain story elements. Just at all. It took all the wind out the sails, and left me regretting my purchase.

Overall its a fine game, but they high on toilet meth thinking its a $70 game. I got it on sale for $50, and fully regret not waiting for a bigger sale. Like a $40 game if you are a big DW fan, and $35 if you just like hack n slash.
