Our theoretical stance, with base in Laclau and Mouffes discourse theory, builds on the notion that reality is characterised by conflicts between different competing discursive formations and that the social is an endless struggle over the preferential right of interpretation of meaning. More specifically, the essay focuses on the discursive struggle over the meaning of the term politics. It is our understanding that the dominant perception of politics necessarily excludes other understandings, which can according to Eduards, be explained as a consequence of a patriarchal distribution of power that renders the subordination of certain understandings of politics accordingly. Som empiriska exempel har vi tagit sexualiseringen av det offentliga rummet och mer specifikt reklamens objektifiering av kvinnan och atfoljande diskussion om lagstiftning mot konsdiskriminerande reklam. In his thesis I have analyzed the US-led invasion and occupation of Iraq, as well as the widespre... more In his thesis I have analyzed the US-led invasion and occupation of Iraq, as well as the widespread opposition and armed resistance against the former, starting off from the assumption that the actions and policies of the occupation in many ways fosters popular opposition and armed resistance. I have analyzed the actions and policies of the occupation since the invasion as well as the aims and underlying interests that governed the choice of Iraq as the target of regime change and occupation within a post-colonial an anti-imperialist theoretical framework. The thesis is a qualitative single case study with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the widespread resentment, as well as armed resistance, towards the American occupation of Iraq. Fokus for denna uppsats ar vald i lesbiska parrelationer och hur man teoretiskt kan konceptualise... more Fokus for denna uppsats ar vald i lesbiska parrelationer och hur man teoretiskt kan konceptualisera detta vald. Mitt overgripande syfte har varit att oka forstaelsen for denna form av vald och darmed bidra till ett relativt outvecklat forskningsfalt. Ett ytterligare syfte har varit att undersoka om den konsmaktsanalys som haft stor betydelse for tolkningen och forstaelsen av mans vald mot kvinnor i heterosexuella relationer aven kan forklara valdet i en lesbisk parrelation. Fokus for min analys har dels varit om och i sa fall pa vilket satt kon ar en faktor som kan forklara det lesbiska relationsvaldet, dels om en forstaelse av valdet inom en konsbaserad teori kan innebara en viss problematik. Jag har aven undersokt andra faktorer som heterosexism och homofobi och dess betydelse for valdets uppkomst och former samt mer individrelaterade forklaringsmodeller. More specifically, the essay focuses on the discursive struggle over the meaning of the term politics. It is our understanding that the dominant perception of politics necessarily excludes other understandings, which can according to Eduards, be explained as a consequence of a patriarchal distribution of power that renders the subordination of certain understandings of politics accordingly. Feminist Initiative, as an alternative discourse, can therefore be perceived as a threat to the dominating discourse of politics, which in order to maintain its preferential right of interpretation seek to illegitimatise and depoliticise the politics that the alternative discourse represents. As a result, the dominating view of politics that builds upon norms of cooperation, consensus, gender neutrality, competence and public interest, is made evident.

I have analyzed the actions and policies of the occupation since the invasion as well as the aims and underlying interests that governed the choice of Iraq as the target of regime change and occupation within a post-colonial an anti-imperialist theoretical framework. The thesis is a qualitative single case study with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of the widespread resentment, as well as armed resistance, towards the American occupation of Iraq. My conclusion is that the widespread opposition and the armed resistance in Iraq, its evolvement and roots, can, in many respects, be understood and analyzed as a result and reaction to the mistakes and misbehaviours of the occupation and the Coalition forces. I have also argued that it is essential to understand the invasion and occupation of Iraq as part of a continuation of colonial/imperialist discourses and processes, most importantly in order to avoid reinforcing neo-colonial interpretations of our contemporary world.

Mitt övergripande syfte har varit att öka förståelsen för denna form av våld och därmed bidra till ett relativt outvecklat forskningsfält. Ett ytterligare syfte har varit att undersöka om den könsmaktsanalys som haft stor betydelse för tolkningen och förståelsen av mäns våld mot kvinnor i heterosexuella relationer även kan förklara våldet i en lesbisk parrelation. Fokus för min analys har dels varit om och i så fall på vilket sätt kön är en faktor som kan förklara det lesbiska relationsvåldet, dels om en förståelse av våldet inom en könsbaserad teori kan innebära en viss problematik. Jag har även undersökt andra faktorer som heterosexism och homofobi och dess betydelse för våldets uppkomst och former samt mer individrelaterade förklaringsmodeller. Den slutsats jag kunnat komma fram till som ett resultat av min teoretiska analys är att det lesbiska relationsvåldet inte uteslutande kan förstås eller konceptualiseras inom en könsmaktsanalys utan att analysen måste kompletteras med en analys av homofobins och heterosexismens påverkan på lesbiska som grupp och således även på det våld som utövas i dessa relationer. Jag anser även att en renodlat strukturell analys på egen hand kan ha svårigheter med att förklara våldet vilket föranlett mig till att lyfta fram en kombinerad strukturell och individualpsykologisk modell för uppnåendet av en mer övergripande teoretisk ram inom vilken man kan förstå våld i lesbiska parrelationer.
