An adequate and efficient transport system is a pre-requisite for both initiating and sustaining ... more An adequate and efficient transport system is a pre-requisite for both initiating and sustaining economic development.The transport system of Bangladesh consists of roads, railways, inland waterways, two sea ports, maritime shipping and civil aviation catering for both domestic and international traffic. Over the last century aviation has been a catalyst for economic growth and has enriched the quality of life for people all over the world.Air travel demand in Bangladesh is also increasing rapidly along with the increasing economy. Though airport plays a role as a gateway,so it’s create a first impressions an international visitor will have, and the last impression they will have when leaving. So,this impression should convey our unique culture and do so through inspirational and innovative architectural forms. This dissertation aims to provide a clear vision to its reader about the importance of a new airport with the growing air traffic and cargo business in the current socio-economic situation of Bangladesh. It also studies the roles and functions of an airport, understands the working system of the whole aviation industry, defines the architecture of terminal in chronological order and tries to examine the impact that it will cause on the urban fabric of the surrounding areas and how it relates the others economic sector as like as tourism,business,jobs & so on.This dissertation will help to understand an airport, it's functions, passenger and vehicular flow, earnings etc. This thesis project is an intensive attempt to design the airport in demographic,economic,social,cultural and geo-political context of Bangladesh & create a sense of place to represents a country among the whole world.
