Summary:Our Big Bang from last year, "First We'll Take Manhattan" left the story with unanswered questions. We thought that we should answer them, and so this is our attempt.

Just to recap last year's story:

Jensen is an up and coming designer. He recruits Jared as his model and falls for him (of course). One of his female models (Adrianne Palicki) takes up with Misha Collins, who is a drug dealer working for a cartel being investigated by journalist Aldis Hodge. Collins gets Adrianne hooked on heroin, and, Jensen, along with Jared, Aldis and Mark P., who is Jensen's tailor, go after him. There is a scuffle and Collins falls off the roof of a building and dies.

Summary: Once there were two young men. One was from a wealthy family, while the other had to struggle to survive. Both were born to dance, but only one of them could win the title and break free from their confining lives.

Notes: Every year for the longest time now, Wendy has patiently organized the J2 Big Bang challenge, and it's been our favorite challenge ever. It's forced us to write, when we're both incredibly lazy. It's introduced us to the most amazing artists, and ensured that we have high quality stories to read all through the summer. It must be a logistical nightmare to round up all the talent and make sure that everything runs smoothly. All praise to Wendy for her efforts. Long may she continue!

We hadn't known of eprimacol's artwork before she chose our story to illustrate, and it was with mounting excitement we watched as she produced panel after panel of the most gorgeous artwork. We are so grateful she chose us. Please go look at her work. She not only produced great beauty, she encapsulated the boys' characters in each of her panels. Thank you eprimacol.

Our two beta readers, framedhim and aire_blair, were both superbly generous with their time and gave us the most incredible help in every way imaginable. This story would have been a mess of inconsistencies and run-on sentences without their help. We owe them bigtime. candygramme offers her firstborn to whichever one of you would like him. He does eat a lot though. spoonlessone is happy to offer her firstborn as well, but she's not sure what you'd want him for. If not, you'll have to make do with our undying gratitude.

Summary: What happens when 17 year old Sam Winchester meets Eric Brady in Salem, Massachusetts? And how does Dean respond to his little brother taking up with his doppelganger? Those were questions we asked ourselves, and this is the story that resulted. Sam takes up photography and seems to have the knack for it, although Dean feels he's way too interested in cutlery, while Dean is finding out that he can diagnose engine trouble in high end cars. They seem set for a peaceful summer until the need for a spot of breaking and entering becomes necessary.
Author's Notes: We were feeling pretty disheartened when our story languished until almost the very last. When we were picked up by our artist, we realized that she was an amazing talent, who did so many lovely pieces for us, despite having tons of other commitments. Thank you to amberdreams for being awesome.

Last year, candygramme and spoonlessone wrote our first spn_j2_bigbang story together and had such a great time, we just had to do it again. And while last year's story was finished and complete, we felt there was more to be told in this world, so this is that new story. We hope you enjoy it.

BB is not quite done and posting is 26 Jun. candygramme has done well over her share of the fic, as usual, and I'm the one holding up the progress. But there is a plan. Yesterday, I finally finished the unfinished scene that's been in the middle of the fic for forever ... legal crap tues and wednesday, then continuity/consistency edits and write the epilogue on Thursday. Should be doable. I'd rather write the epilogue with the whole fic fresh on my mind, and right after the final readthrough of the whole thing and editing all the world-building stuff for continuity, I should have the world and the characters fresh on my mind and can knock out the epilogue without any further delay. Then beta and posting soon and wow. spn-j2-bigbang done! \o/


But then here's the thing. There was this other story we were working on and it kind of fits this challenge, so we can finish and polish it by October, right? So, we're signed up to do this:
