Originally established in 1958 as Zhonghua Theater (中華戲院), specializing in glove puppetry shows. It became a second-run cinema in 1960 and was renamed Xinwutai Theater (新舞臺戲院). The name was changed yet again in 1967, becoming Rixin Theater (日新戲院). Business prospered over subsequent decades and the original structure was demolished and replaced by a six-storey commercial building in 1989. Defying the odds in a declining industry, the theater was again rebuilt in 1998, this time as the ten-storey commercial tower still in use today. It is still in operation in 2024 with ten halls and a capacity of around 2,800.
