An interdisciplinary online conference | 14 – 17 Dec 2021
Organized by Luba Jurgenson (Sorbonne Unversité, Eur’ORBEM) and Philippe Mesnard (UCA Clermont-Ferrand, CELIS, IUF)

What landscape for the memory? What memory for the landscape? These questions will be addressed at an interdisciplinary and international conference taking place in Clermont and Paris will next week. The objective is to connect memory and landscape studies, thereby encouraging a multidisciplinary “reflection on the landscapes that witnessed scenes of extreme violence during the 19th and 20th centuries.”
Contributions will discuss historical landscapes as sites of tourism or (non-)memory; sites of Soviet crimes; (post-)Holocaust landscapes; today’s urban landscapes of Paris and Berlin; and other topics.
You can participate online. For the first part (14–15 Dec), please register before December 13 by sending an email with your name to the following address: [email protected]
