It possesses several biological and pharmacological activities. According to the Thai National List of Essential Medicines, T. laurifolia leaves are used for the treatment of fever. This work sought to optimize microwave-assisted drying of Thunbergia laurifolia Lindl. leaf granules to shorten the granule drying process by the 3 2 full factorial design. Power was varied from 300, 450 and 600 W for 5, 10 and 15 min, to minimize moisture content and maximize rosmarinic acid content. Results showed that the optimal microwave-assisted drying condition within the design space and control space was the power of 450 W for 13 min. This condition gave the moisture content of 4.77 ± 0.24 % and rosmarinic acid content of 0.0566 ± 0.0075 %. The HPLC method was validated; it showed good linearity, specificity, precision, and accuracy. Furthermore, the system suitability was achieved. The T. laurifolia leaf granules obtained from the optimal microwave-assisted drying condition were further used to prepare T. laurifolia leaf tablets by the wet granulation method. Three batches of 650 mg tablets containing 250 mg of T. laurifolia leaf powder were prepared using different compression forces: 500, 1,000 and 1,500 psi. The suitable compression force was 1,500 psi; the tablet formulation had suitable hardness (9.88 ± 0.52 kP), low friability (0.20 %), and a short disintegration time (23.17 ± 0.76 s). Rosmarinic acid marker was dissolved from the tablets for approximately 75 % within 4 h when 0.5 % sodium lauryl sulfate aqueous solution was used as dissolution medium. In conclusion, microwave-assisted drying could be applied in preparing T. laurifolia leaf tablets by shortening the granules drying time.

Due to its low water solubility, the cannabis extract was prepared as a self-emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS) to enhance its dissolution. The highest cannabidiol and ∆9-tetrahydrocannabinol contents were achieved at 18 MPa and 40 °C without the use of ethanol. The SEDDS droplet size, polydispersity index, D10, D50, D90, span, zeta potential, and emulsification time were evaluated to identify the formulation with minimized droplet size and emulsification time. The optimal formulation was composed of a 45:40:20 mass ratio of (2:1 Tween® 80:Span® 80):coconut oil:cannabis extract. The optimized SEDDS successfully enhanced the dissolution of cannabis extract obtained from SFE.

The levels of three factors—compressional force, croscarmellose sodium (CCS), and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC)—were screened using the one-factor-at-a-time technique, followed by the DOE utilizing the Box–Behnken design. The respective variations for each factor were as follows: compressional force (1500–2500 psi), CCS (1–3%), and MCC (32–42%). The results indicated that compressional force significantly decreased tablet thickness and friability, while increasing hardness and prolonging disintegration time. CCS significantly shortened disintegration time but did not affect tablet thickness, hardness, and friability. MCC, on the other hand, significantly increased tablet thickness and hardness, while significantly decreasing friability. Furthermore, the study observed interactions among factors and quadratic effects of each factor, which significantly influenced tablet prop...

Three factors—microwave power, time, and cycle—were varied. Eight responses—extraction yield, total phenolic content, gallic acid content, corilagin content, chebulagic acid, chebulinic acid, IC50 from DPPH assay, and IC50 from FRAP assay—were monitored. Furthermore, cytotoxicity was evaluated to ensure the safety of the extract. After that, the optimized extract was compressed into tablets. The results showed that the optimal condition of the microwave-assisted extraction gave the simultaneous maximum extraction yield, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity with a microwave power of 450 W for 30 s and 3 cycles. The extract obtained from the optimal condition exhibited a good safety profile although a concentration of 5 mg/mL was used. The optimized tablets were achieved when a comp...

A diverse panel of four rice bran o il verities was analyzed for growth inhibition of h uman colon cancer using the Methyl Thiazol Tetrazolium ( MTT) assay. The antioxidant property was evaluated by free radical diphenyl-picryhydrazyl scavenging assa y (DPPH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRA P) assay. The result of MTT assay revealed that inhibi t proliferation of colon cancer at 0.19-0.68 mg/ml, inhibition varied from 5.16-99.42%. In term of antioxidant act ivities demonstrated 51.23-100%, 0.67-98.5% against DPPH method and FRAP assay, respectively, depending on the verities of bran oil and concentration used . In this study found that Hom-Mali Gorkho has high pote ntial for both anti cancer and antioxidant activiti es. It was concluded that varieties of rice bran oil is a pote ntial source of bioactive compound against colon ca cer cell line and antioxidant activity.

The use of a self-emulsifying drug delivery system (SEDDS) can enhance their dissolution and bioavailability. However, liquid SEDDS formulations are prone to inadequate stability. To address this issue, the development of a solid SEDDS formulation was explored. This study aimed to optimize directly compressible self-emulsifying tablets containing cannabis extract obtained from supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. Initially, a liquid SEDDS of cannabis extract was solidified by adsorption onto solid carriers (colloidal silicon dioxide and microcrystalline cellulose). The resulting solid mixture was then combined with other pharmaceutical excipients and compressed into tablets. Three factors were optimized using the Box-Behnken design: compressional force (1,000–2,000 psi), quantity of hydroxypropyl methylcell...

It is also used as masking agent in household products and as a flavoring agent in food. Clausena anisata (Willd.) Hook. f. ex Benth. leaves are reported as a source of trans-anethole that makes their anise-like odor. This work sought to optimize the dynamic maceration of C. anisata leaves to maximize the trans-anethole content. The circumscribed central composite experimental design was applied to investigate the effects of extraction temperature and time on extraction yield, trans-anethole content in the extract, and trans-anethole content in the plant raw material. The results showed that the extraction yield was high when C. anisata leaves were extracted over a long extraction time, while the extraction temperature had a lesser effect on the extraction yield. Trans-anethole content in the extract and plant raw material determined using a linear, specific, precise, and accurate HPLC method was high when a me...
