Backstory:
Montana is a one of a kind mutation of the human-sized Ma tango monster. She is a more balanced blending of human and fungi characteristics than her freakish relatives. When she was a baby, a typhoon hit the ma tangos' island and the log she was growing on was swept into the sea. The ocean currents brought the infant Montana to another tropical island where she grew up sheltered but alone and with no knowledge of her people. When she was 16 years old, a Japaneses fishing boat came upon her island and the crew decided to explore it as a means of taking a break from the usual routine. When the fishermen first encountered Montana, they fell victim to her tranquilizer powder, which kept them from becoming afraid of her. Because of this, Montana was able to carry on a friendly conversation with the fishermen(although one can only wonder how she learned to talk. It's possible that it's a side-effect of her being a human-fungus mutation). Eventually, the tranquilized fishermen asked the fungus girl if she would like to visit their home village on Odo Island. Montana, who was bored from living all by herself, was eager to go with them. However, Montana was a bit naive about the full effects her powders had on humans. As a result, her arrival on Odo Island nearly resulted in mass hysteria. Once the JSDF was called in, they successfully captured her and brought her to Neo Monster Island.
Despite the problems that her powders can cause, Montana is actually quite naive and laid back due to growing up all by herself on a tropical island. In other words, Montana is a typical hippie chick. She hardly ever gets upset and she's never one to start a fight. Montana believes that the k-girls should "Make peace, not war". She hates it when the k-girls get into fights and will often try to diffuse the situation. This usually results in the combatants getting an accidental dose of Montana's powders, which will makes things better or worse depending on which powder is accidentally discharged.
As a fungus, Montana can eat anything that's biodegradable although she prefers her food to be raw, spoiled, and rotten. Montana is more likely to rummage around in the dumpster behind the Popular "Shinrow's Pizza" instead of eating inside but she will join her friends if they invite her along(just be sure to hold the mushrooms). Like the other "feral" k-girls(such as Gigi and Ginoa), Montana has no real fashion sense when it comes to clothing and she covers herself only because of societal taboos against public nudity. Because of this, she buys most of her wardrobe from used clothing stores instead of shopping at "Darcy’s Daikaiju Clothing and Tailoring"(she thinks that designer clothes, in general, are "Guady and unnatural"). Montana has a preference for bright colors and funk music.
Montana's best friend is Gaea since both of them, being plant girls, are staunch environmentalists and will often attend rallies together. It's possible that in the not too distant future, this friendship could "blossom" into something more. Montana is also friends with Organna since she mistook the Orga-morph's slowness to mean that she's as laid back as her. At Daikaiju High, Montana is in the same freshman classes as Maggie and Kama so the ma tango-morph suggested that the 3 of them should stick together since they're the newest k-girls in school.
The K-Girl Bullies think that Montana is a wimpy pacifist and would love to pick on her but if they push her too far, they risk getting a dose of Montana's powders. It's fortunate that she has this potent defense mechanism because Montana is no stronger than an average Ma tango and wouldn't stand a chance in a direct fight against the bigger girls. Aside from the usual riff-raff, Montana's main rival is Beatra due to the Battra girl's more militant and violent approach to environmentalism. Gaea, who is friends with both, often finds herself acting as a buffer between their radically opposing viewpoints.
