I became a furry officially freshman year of High School. My friend
(Luna Rosso) introduced me to the furry fandom. I was always in the mindset of a
furry up to that point. I barked, purred, jumped around and acted
playful like an animal since elementary school. My mother told me I
shouldn't do that sort of thing in public so I stopped in middle school
but still had the sensation to act like an animal, to just be cute and
have fun. When I found out what I really was, it blew my mind to think
there was a group of people out there just like me and that I wasn't
crazy! I've gone to Midwest Furfest for the past three years and have
loved it even more every year. I've made three fursuits and just sold my
first one. I draw furry art and plan to be a fursuit dance competitor
within the next two years.
A little about how Aviet, my fursona came to be. When I first got on the
internet in 7th grade, I immediately caught hold of the wonders of
Youtube(back before google took it over and ruined everything). I was
apart of a roleplay pack on youtube, we'd go into the stream and
roleplay up the night while sharing some things about our personal life
and how stuff wasn't the easiest for any of us. I loved being apart of
that. My personal character was named Aviet, a straight black wolf who
didn't give a shit about what the others thought of her. She was tough,
but also withdrawn. She liked to start arguments and fight, testing her
strength, but didn't like being cornered into talking about how she
felt. This went on for a while. I then later joined the drawing and chat
site iscribble. There I developed a 'Persona' or 'Fursona' of sorts
because well... Everybody else had one. I took my black wolf Aviet and
gave her a blue swirl shoulder with three dots around the outer edge. It
was simple, it was me. This was my fursona for a very long while but as
I roleplayed with her more and more, I began to personalize her to my
own character. At the time, I was really down in life, thigns kept
happening and I was depressed. This was all during high school. I added
an emo loop to her hair fur, dropped one of her ears and gave her
demonic powers. She kept this image until sophomore year of High School.
That's when my identity crisis happened. I popped out so many fursona
ideas ranging all different types of canines and colors.
I was tired of being simple, of being a push over wolf in the background
that just took what she was given. It wasn't until late junior year
that I finally landed my fursona. I was searching through fursuits one
day and saw a 'Snolf' fursuit. It was nothing I'd ever thought of or
seen. It was a snow leopard and a wolf... together! A hybrid. I began to
change Aviet, to make her into this character. And in the end, I'm
happy I did. She resembles me almost to a T now. Snow leopards are
solitary animals, keeping to themselves and not needing anybody else to
help support them. They are independent creatures, kings and queens of
the animal kingdom. Not to mention beautiful and expressive through the
simple flick of their tails. Wolves on the other hand though are fun,
energetic, loving, family oriented animals. They tend to put their life
on the line to keep their family safe, putting 100 % effort into
everything they do for their friends and family. The pack before
themselves. I still crave that social interaction of people, almost
feeding off of it, but I also need to be able to be independent and
solitary sometimes. I'm lazy, but I also get days where I am incredibly
social, excited, and hyper. That's why I feel the snolf truly represents
my character and person. The extra raptor bits I've included on Aviet
also represent my childhood dream and love for dinos. Growing up, a
raptor was the main animal I ever re-enacted other than a wolf and I
felt it needed an honorable place on my character. Aviet is me and I am
her. She is the social output that allows me to express myself through
art and everyday life.
Currently I am attending USI, University of Southern Indiana in
Evansville, IN. I am studying Mechanical Engineer so that one day I can
make my dream to be a monster maker come true. I will be the new Stan
Winston ;D
I love to draw, I will be submitting information about commissions very
soon here. I need money considering I'm currently going to college and
need to save up for going to Japan in two years.
