I make stuffed animals and art dolls and backpacks and puppets.

And display them all over my house.
And name them. And pet them.
And talk to them in the dark just before dawn, in a voice barely above a whisper...

About Abigail

While Abigail spends most of her time as a spotted hyena, she's actually an alien that can alter and disguise her Morphic Field, using that form to hide her true form. Spotted hyena is the form she's most familiar with because she was adopted as a baby by a family of them, that found the place where her pod had crashed. Her species had been created in a lab accident in an alien ship studying the genome sequences of life on Earth. They quickly disposed of the creatures they'd created in various ways, dropping Abbi off on the planet's surface to fend for herself. Her adoptive family didn't get a good look at the pod before it exploded, but they could have sworn it said, "ABBI NORMAL GENOTYPE". At least, they're fairly certain that was the name...

Abbi is able to shapeshift due to having a highly unstable Morphic Field due to the uncontrolled experiment that created her. This also makes her more vulnerable and sensitive to influence from outside energies. There are also a number of rules and limitations on her ability. The biggest is that each form must be individually and specifically learned, with great difficulty, through familiarity. Forms she's less familiar with are more unstable, and the Morphic Field might attempt to revert after a set amount of time, to highly unpredictable results. Because her adoptive family were hyenas, she can take this form easily at will, and hold it as long as she wants. This is the only form she can do that with, however, all others are only temporary, even the ones she's good at.It's also required that the form be similar to hers in structure: four limbs, a tail, etc. So wings will only work if they replace her arms. She also wouldn't be able to use them, since she doesn't gain the knowledge associated with a physical attribute--in this case, having wings doesn't mean she actually knows how to fly. Finally, she's unable to ever change certain attributes about herself, such as her short tusks formed by her upper canines, her orange hair and green eyes, and the fact that she's blind as a bat without glasses.
