About Ziegenbock
A writer, traveller and swordsgoat, Ziegenbock (Zieg for short) spends his days wandering the land, roaming from place to place, rarely staying anywhere for long. Restless hooves and an unquenchable wanderlust drive the big white-and-grey mountain goat to see what the world has to offer. He once lived in the city, where he led a large herd with all species imaginable. Nowadays however, Zieg keeps more selective company, be that his ferret familiar Frederick, or the residents of whichever lodge or farmstead he winds up in. He earns his keep as a stud goat, travelling between farms and tending to an altogether different kind of herd.
In the moments in between his stud duties, Zieg can often be found with pen and paper in hoof. Sometimes, he will head into the back country, looking for a suitable hill or view for inspiration. Other times he will stay in the barn, his ferret or his newest doe nestled by his side, inspired to write by the memory and warmth of his latest encounter.
What I write
My key interest is in 'the animal': what happens when civility fades away, and only the most primal drives and instincts remain (this is also known as atavism). This ranges from hunger in the true animal sense, to pure unbridled lust. My animals confront this instinct: sometimes they harness it or even revel in it, sometimes it consumes them.
Many of my stories, especially of late, take place in a post-apocalyptic world with a heavy naturalistic flavour. My animals live by their teeth and claws, their wits, and whatever gear they can scavenge. As a result, they often have to confront the beasts they are.
My furry writing journey
I have been writing short furry stories for several years, finding occasional time in amongst my work and herding duties. Recently I've had a strong streak of ideas and inspiration. I hope to commit these to paper (real or virtual), before sharing them with you, my readers.
So please have a look around, see what you fancy, and keep an eye out for more.
Oh, comments and messages are always welcome.
