I'm a nerd with a love of animals and the natural world. My recent work is inspired by the beauty of nature, cultural exchange, and of imagined futures familiar in some ways and fantastical in others.


I hold a Ph.D. in evolutionary biology and my professional written work has been published in over a half-dozen academic journals, but I am slowly trying to revive my passion for recreational writing. One of the best pieces of advice I've ever received that has applied both professionally and personally, from a trusted mentor of mine, is "cultivate a love for writing". I think the use of the word "cultivate" is particularly apt because this love is not something that happens in the absence of hard work, persistence, and a bit of luck. So here I am, hopefully trying my hand at cultivating some narrative writing.
