It's that time of year again.
The days are still warm but the nights turn cold. A thick fog rolls in over the darkening fields as day turn into twilight. The dampness in the air is cold, creeping... raw. Leaves fall from the trees, slowly dying to the darkness of winter.
The time of the year where the veil between our worlds and the twilight lands beyond are at its thinnest. The time where hauntings grow stronger and the supernatural is at it's most powerful.
That's the time where Nightmare the Hel Horse raises her head to the sky at night, her eyes glowing as they reflect the light of the full moon above her. The white star on her forehead almost burning as it absorbed the moonlight and she inhaled deeply, causing the mist around her to swirl into her nostrils before she exhaled in a loud neigh; her breath forming a cloud in front of her. She pranced, waving her forlegs and causing the mist to swirl around her.
Then she started to walk. A slow trot out into the tallgrass and soon reaching the woods. Upon reaching a small lake in the woods she stopped and looked back over her shoulder, spotting you who had came up behind her. She snorted softly, flicking her mane and tail as her piercing blue eyes stared into yours. Would you mount her and let her walk into lake with you. Looking past her you could see the faint hints of skulls and bony hands in the water, reaching up for the surface as the water turned black around them. A portal to the other side. Such a journey is offered to very few. You can learn a lot, but there is a risk that you will never come back.
Her tail and mane flicks again, like the pendulum of your grandfather's clock. It's time to make up your mind.
