Personality:
Not exactly a chatterbox, Valentine is quite blunt and forward when he does speak but his words are not always what you'd like to hear.
He doesn't socialize much and he only opens up to a select few, if you happen to be one of those few he's accepted though then you'll find he's extremely loyal.
To many he may seem as though he has no personality, spiteful or mean spirited or may even come off as aggressive.... fact of the matter is he's reserved and also short tempered and has a low tolerance for other folk , but he will have a laugh and even a friendly challenge with those who he gets along with and has opened up towards.
He fancies himself as a bit of a tough guy and will put his life on the line for the good of his people.
He's quite a busy rat and always likes to be doing something with his time, you don't often catch him slacking off but when you do it's well deserved.



Other:

Valentine came from the sewers originally and was an officer for the colony.
He was a big male who kept the other rats in order and would use violence if necessary to lay down the law.
He's seen his fare share of rats meet their doom having broken the rules too many times and has kept a straight face believing he was doing what was right for the colony.
It was some time later when his sister Ruby went above ground and escaped that he was sent to go after her and bring the law breaker back to the chief to be punished appropriately.
He obeyed and went out in search of his sister.
In his mind she was a tyrant who deserve what ever she got, but when he finally found her and went in for the attack he was met by two other bigger male rats who stood in his way.
He realized at that moment looking beyond the two large bucks that his sister had left the colony out of fear and the penny dropped that he wasn't a law enforcer but a bully who'd been brain washed by the chief to create order through fear.
His life of doing what he thought was right for the colony was in fact a life of pushing other rats around to make them too scared to disobey.
He never went back to the sewers and he changed his alliance from being a sewer rat bullying those below him, to being a street rat and helping what was to be his new much smaller colony with his sister and the two bucks.

He has the same scars on his back as what his sister Ruby has, and the reason they both have them is because they come from the same section of the sewer and were both marked to show where they belonged.
All the rats in the sewer they came from were marked with scars to show which section they belonged to.
