Kate giving a glare at Taylor - perfectly sensible. But that subtle change in angle + expression in the very last panel, aaaaaaaaaaaa.
[b]EDIT[/b]: An encounter like this also suddenly gives black text box in page 6 a lot more meaning too: "She's really good at mediating things between us." Now that we know that things have gotten rocky, it's very possible that this is not the first time Daniel's been upset by something Joel has done. Question is... what's going on...? We'll have to figure it out a bit later.
Now, I could be wrong! It could be that, yes, indeed, Daniel is causing a fuss over some lost little trinket that those two have shared since their childhood. Hell, I'm surprised neither of them broke or anything, but again, that could also be simply for effect ("oh you still have yours?" "You do to? No way!" "We've had those for ages, it's amazing we have them still!"). And besides, who could blame the poor kid if he wanted to take it off now and then? I suppose at school wouldn't be ideal, but again, this comic is probably written this way simply so that everything falls into place the way the author-artist believes it ought to.
Overreaction it may be, but when you're insecure about what your orientation is and about who knows and all that, things are tough, plus they're teenagers too. Keep all this in mind.
