A gentle, playful and curious gryphon, Firi had always been drawn by the mystery-wrought lands beyond the span of her colony. It is where the prey fights back, delicious fishies swarm the rivers, and frightening yet glorious civilizations stretch their lairs of stone and wood and mud as far as the eye can see. The second on the list drew her attention today, a gentle river hidden beneath a curtain of reeds that stirs with the promise of a squirming, enticing meal. Having never fished before, she reaches into the waters with a slow, careful paw, her wings stretched for balance, beak agape in anticipation.

After all, how hard can it be to catch and hold onto those fat, sluggish creatures?
