Spiralia simplified map
One of the most difficult aspects of designing a secondary world for me is the geography and scale thereof. I have no idea where I'm putting anything, and I'm intending to balance believable (semi-realistic) geography and locations with "fuck you it's magic". Sometime in 2015 I apparently sketched together this isolated land mass, since being a big-ass island it doesn't rely as much on the geography of anywhere else.
Spiralia, aka the Badlands, is a continent based on mythical Australia and the Speewah -- a no man's land of horrible monsters and inhospitable weather braved only by sassy super-people. It's one of a few locations suitable for Monster Hunter-style games and stories. The name Spiralia itself is a loose portmanteau of Speewah + Australia and subject to change.
The light tan area on the top coast is effectively a beach, the light green areas are plains / safari, the dark green along the other coasts are forests / jungles, the yellow in the center's a desert, and the grey around the southern peninsula is a blackened dead zone. The center bears a mountain of some nature or another.
The primary people of Spiralia are termed Badlanders. They're themed on kangaroos. Due to emigration, "Badlanders" born in other lands or having lived there for a long time have considerably less pronounced accents, but they are all equally offended by insinuations that every last man woman and child bears a mustache.
