Fortunately for the commander of a hundred, I mostly prefer lionesses. I know it's terribly old-fashioned but you know us primitive barbarians from up north, we're suckers for the exotic ladies from warmer climes. Why, sometimes we go raiding simply for that very purpose alone!

I am generously willing to pretend to the literal meaning of your title, noble commander! After all, it is widely known that we primitive barbarians cannot count higher than ten, as we rapidly run out of fingers!

Incidentally, don't tell Hadrian, but there is this thing called a ship we have been known to use...

tfw the roman settlement of londinium will be renamed london and turned into your capital, and then you will copy the imperialistic image and colozise your own shit. so.. good job at turning into a more technological roman empire :)

but yeah the counting withing the roman army was a bit wacky. that and that the first cohort was not the same size as the other cohorts, it was double and dont forget the decimation ugh *waves my hands*

I figure that the noble centurion needs a suitably devious barbarian adversary to keep him on his toes. Like an English or an American commander from a later era, he is posted in a remote land and surrounded by individuals any of whom may or may not be his enemies, and whom he instinctively under-estimates as being 'filthy barbarians' because they represent precisely none of what he would see as being civilized virtues. But on the same page, if he lasts long enough he'll probably find out that the barbarians can be just as cunning as anyone else, and even pretend to be stupid to try and take advantage of his existing assumptions, devious dogs that they are!

It's a lesson applicable to any era, really :3

well romans never thought the barbarians were incapable of learning, since they called it "bringing civilization" to conquer them. they never thought people didnt think, just that they thought wrong :)
