Fenir is always a character i love to hate, but to be honest the idea of having Umbra behind his true self makes much more sense than only his father giving the shots... besides its really nice to imagine Fenir melting to return to the origin, where there is no self but a whole.
Fenir: Avatar of Chaos wouldn't be able without the help from Luce
