KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

I hated both my job, and my life. No, I didn’t hate it enough to want to kill myself if that what you overly thinking people are thinking. It was just so…boring to say the least. I had made a plan, well into my junior high school years; I was going to become a video game designer, the guys that made the 3D animations into games. I wanted to bring good games back, not all these games that were the same, just different tweaks here and there, no, and I wanted to make a game that would be remembered, like the Legend of Zelda type games. And I thought by the end of high school I would have a girlfriend and be all happy, you know, until we broke up for some stupid reason or another like all relationships seem to end these days. but here I am, sitting behind a desk at the local library, reading a book to pass the time, helping out readers from time to time, three years after my high school times were done, no girlfriend…life sucking more then a child on a candy stick, or Suckers as we called them over here.

I just turned 21 in March, working full time at the library, which surprising well was paid with many hours. Luckily I enjoyed reading to pass the time, more so video games, but I couldn’t while on the job, so the book was the next best thing to do. The Library was known as Freedom West Library, pretty much the only and largest library in the city I was staying. Inside it was a almost circle like building, three floors, filled to the brim with books, the basement held rare books, and luckily if I wanted to and was very…very…VERY careful, I could see and read them. It was never overly packed busy, few borrow here and there, someone asking me to help them find a book, you know, same thing. As I looked over, I noticed three people reading a book at a table, across from this, a brown earth pony.

Yes, you read that right, a pony was sitting in a library, reading a book.

When I was still in high school, somehow, a rift opened up, showing a world unlike our own. It seemed that the kingdom of Equestria, was working on some sort of high end teleportation spell and…they tore open the very fabric of space! Now it seems we humans, most of us anyway, you know the ones that think the world will end, were going nuts, sating that this was the end of the world. But after noticing that there was no effect to what was going on, after about a few weeks it was proven that there would be no ‘end of the world’ bullshit.

Governments of our worlds spoke to the princesses (at the time) of said Equestria, Princess Celestia, and her younger sister Princess Luna. After convincing that their world would not try to attack or invade each other worlds, peace treaties were sighed…and you know other crap I really didn’t care for really.

Within that same year, it wasn’t a surprised when some ponies started to come to this world to live and work, sure there were few who thought of the idea as ‘wrong’ or strange. But in a short time, it became the new norm of the world. Still, there were some who outright didn’t allow ponies to work with them. But in Equestria, all were welcomed.

In our world, it was still new for the ponies to be here, in fact, a few other creatures of their world had come here as well, I’ve seen one gryphon at one time, and heard of minotaur, but other then that, im not sure. There in fact a group, a rather large group that think that all creatures that are not human that came to this world should just go back, publicly cursing at them. Of course, the police never get involved unless true harm comes from them. Luckily, nothing had happened yet.

Anyway, before working here, I had worked with a few ponies, they were just like humans…you know, save for that unicorns could use magic and the other things. I know a few friends who were dating ponies. One of my friends was dating a light green unicorn…what was her name Lyra I believe. Though…she always seemed to hold his hand...strange.

Thinking back to this, I also remembered how my friend’s family disowned him, and would not allow him back until he dumped the unicorn to ‘get back on the true way’ of life. Lyra, when overhearing me and him talk, was about to break up when she heard that, saying that it wasn’t fair. But my friend didn’t want that, he said if his family couldn’t accept him for dating someone he cared for, and then they truly didn’t care for him.

But now, sitting down, brushing my lightly tan skin hand through my raven black hair, I was just halfway done the Eragon book, when I heard a women’s voice speak. “Excuse me, I would like some help in locating some books.” I blinked and lowered my book, and saw that a purple like shaded unicorn was standing on her hind legs, her hooves on the table looking at me. Her mane was that of a two shade purple, and her wide eyes looking at me with a sense of wisdom in them. To how I could guess that just by looking at her eyes, I couldn’t tell…wait a second…she had wings too?! Yeah, the only other pony I ever seen that from was with the two Princesses when they were on the news…so she’s a princess as well?

                “Uh…yeah, I’m Brandon…how can I help you miss…?”

“Wait, you don’t know who I am?” should I…don’t tell me she one of those overly ego type princesses when no one knows her, but she thinks they should? “Well, anyway, sorry…guess I’m still not use of the human world not knowing me nor my friends, I’m Twilight Sparkle, nice to meet you!”

Twilight Sparkle…the name seemed to ring a bell…oh yeah now I remembered! She was just recently dubbed a Princess, also the wielder of the Element of Magic.  Seemed the girls have saved Equestria many times, well known heroes in their world. Though, I do wonder why she is in this world, more over, here at the library, wanting books. “Well,” I answered coming out of my self talking for a moment. “A pleasure to meet you as well Princess Tw-…”

“Just Twilight…please,” she answered raising her hoof up to stop me. “That ‘Princess’ title…I’m still getting use to it. Beside, you don’t even reside in Equestria, so I’m not your Princess,” I gave her a small smile, again, baffled by the way she was.

“Well, Twilight,” I tried again as she smiled. “What can I help you look for?”

“Every book you have on human’s please! History to start off, oh maybe even the evolutions and such and…uh…Brandon?”  No doubt she could see my shock, and confused look, EVERY book, sure, history was one this, but a study on all thing human? We don’t have a column for that I know that for sure!

“My…hearing must be acting up,” I dug my finger in my ear and then asked. “But did you say…every book we had on humans?”

“Well yes, how else am I to learn about your kind? You know, different races, different traditions,” she started to ramble on, telling me how she wished to learn all she could. She knew that she couldn’t learn EVERYTHING, seeing how the human race, much like the pony race, was always moving forward. “So, can you help me?”

“Uh…” was all I could say before then pointing. “The floor above us in H is all about history if you want to start there…?”

“Perfect!” she exclaimed with a clap of her hooves. “Thank you so much!” and with then, she walked off, spreading her wings and flew up.

Wow…I’ve seen some books worms in my day, the largest I’ve seen someone read in one sitting was five, very thick books, but…she wanted all the history books on human kind to read!?!  Well…to each their own as long as she is not bothering anyone, I shouldn’t really say anything wrong about her. I had to admire the way she was of her studies, if I was half as dedicated as she was…well…I wouldn’t be here right now, nor would I have just met her, now would I?

A few hours went by, the humans and ponies I saw before, long gone, and the place deathly still, closing my book and stretching, I hadn’t seen Twilight in a while, so decided to go off to look for her. Climbing upward the stairs, and rounding along the large floor…I soon found her at the lone long table, and jaw dropped. One side of the table was a large pile of books, the other side, a smaller size one, her in the middle, nearing the end of a rather large book. When she was done, and closed the book, I noticed she took a few moments to close her eyes, as if taking a break. Placed the book on the large pile, and pulled another from the smaller side and started to read. Wait…she read all those books in a matter of hours?! There must have been a good sixty books there!

After a few seconds, she looked up, no doubt sensing I was there, she then smiled as she waved. “Oh hello Brandon, what brings you up here?”

“I was…” I was still shocked by so many books around her before asking. “Did you really read all those books?” I asked her as she looked at the larger pile and smiled somewhat sheepish.

“Yes,” she answered with an all knowing nod. “You see, I just…I just love to read and learn new things, and now there a whole new world of information I want to learn, right now I was just learning about this…War World Two…I cant believe that really happened…”

“It’s rather not that far in time really…when you think of it,” I told her coming over and sitting across from her.

                “Yes…it’s so sad…”

“I got to meet with one of the Holocaust survivors; he told me so many things that were just so…sad…”

“How so?” she asked, leaning forward, wow, I guess she was willing to learn, even the human’s dark part in history…even though there were a lot.

“He told me and a group of students when I was in high school, how the Nazis were rounding up everyone, two groups, one on one side, and the other on the other side. It seems the Nazis were asking them what their job was, before they were brought to these ‘camps’. He told us that a man pulled him to the side, seeing how he was only fifteen, sixteen at the time if I remembered right; and told him to tell them that he was a locksmith.”

“What was he before then?” the princess asked me as I shrugged.

“He didn’t say, anyway, he told them that he was and was taken to the group, where the man that told him to say that was…he watched as the other group was killed.”

                “What?! Why?!” she nearly screamed.

“The Nazis kept those who could be useful, he had to learn on the go, and luckily everyone stuck together and helped.

“Sweet Celestia…” she whispered softly. “I…that’s so horrible…”

“My Great-Great Grandfather was a solider fighting to stop the Nazis,” I went on closing my eyes. “Even though I never met the man, my Grandfather told me something he remembered him telling him when he was my age.”

                “What’s that?”

“Do you know of the term, ‘Child Solider’?”

“It’s pretty much in the name, so yes.”

“Here one second,” I got up and went to a book shelf, finding one based on old guns, as I brought it over and flipped through the pages. Pointing to a rifle.  “The butt of the gun,” I said pointing to the end of the gun where someone would press to their shoulder. “Put that to the ground, and counting the muzzle,” I then pointed to the top. “The gun was taller then the child shooting it.”

“That…and they shot them?! How could they shoot children?!” she exclaimed before holding my hand up.

“Twilight…think of it like this, you are in the middle of battle, everything is being blown up around you. From afar, you can’t make out anyone. You see someone shooting at you, what you do?” she grew still and grim looking as I nodded. “They had no idea…indeed; much like the history of the human race, there will always be grim times such as this. Though I pray that nothing like this happens in my life time…I know that no doubt, there won’t be another Hitler…there will always be one, who they believe their ideals are worth going to war for.”

We were silenced for a bit, before sighing and returning the book back. “But…let us not talk of that anymore, it is a rather…yeah,”

“Yes…but thank you for telling me that,”

“Those who do not remember and learn from the past will not have a future,” I saw Twilight give a small smile before I then asked. “So…other then coming to this world to learn, why else are you here?”

She started to tell me of the stories of her friends a bit, telling me that even all of her friends were here on a small vacation of sorts. Fluttershy, she wanted to come and it seems she was helping out at the SPCA; Rarity was learning all the new fashion and was working with a group for something of a fashion show. Applejack seems she was truly soaking up her free time, but it seemed she helped out around with selling some apples at an indoor farm market we have in the city. I saw Twilight roll her eyes when she said that her friend Pinkie Pie was at the hotel throwing a birthday party for a ten year old girl, I chuckled when she said that the girl was so happy and surprised, and became friends with the pink pony. Rainbow Dash was just always speeding around, showing off all her moves to show off her skills of being a Wonder Bolt, which sounded like the Blue Angles of our world. “And myself, well, you already know,” she ended as I could only nod. “But what about you, do you have family here?”

“A mother yes, but I moved out a while ago,” I answered her question.

                “Father?”

“If you mean do I have a father, yes I do…I mean how else would I be standing here. If you’re asking if I ‘have’ a father, no.”

                “What do you mean?”

“He never considered me his son; he didn’t want the responsibility that came with it. I met him long ago when I was young, but when I saw him some more, he was ether high off his ass or drunk under the table.”

                “Oh…I’m sorry,”

“Don’t be,” I answered waving my hand. “What about you?”

“Well, both my mother and father are home in Canterlot, my brother is in the Crystal Empire with his wife, and my former foal-sitter; Princess Cadence.”

We spoke a bit more, telling me stories of her brother’s wedding, and how creatures known as Changelings tried to take over, almost did so it seems. Looking at the clock, I noticed it was almost closing time. “So, Twilight, I have to close in about ten minutes, if you want, you can wait for me, and then I can walk with you to the hotel you’re staying at with your friends?”

“Sure!” she answered with a beaming smile. “I’m sure they are glad to know I made a human friend.”

“Friend?” I asked as I saw her look change.

                “Oh…if you think it’s a little soon…”

“No, no, it’s fine,” I chuckled again. “I mean, we shared enough information to be considered friends yes?” she smiled again and could only nod, as I watched her returns the books to their right place.

“Wait, wait…he made it rain chocolate?” I asked in disbelief as I locked up the doors, the cleaning people would be coming in an hour. “How is that even possible?”

“Well,” Twilight said as she waited for me before we started our walk. “As I said, Discord can do some really strange things, it’s the way his magic his. If he wanted to, and he has, he could become part of a painting and move along in it or heck, make somepony’s tattoo move!”

                “Is he here?”

“Yes, Fluttershy asked him to come along as well, but I think it was because she wanted to keep a rather close eye on him…speaking of, I should tell you what to expect from my friends.”

                “What…they don’t like humans?”

“What, no!” she laughed once she saw my teasing grin. “It just well…Fluttershy is rather shy, like her namesake; don’t take it the wrong way if she won’t talk to you at once. Rarity might make a comment on your clothing…”

“What wrong with my clothes?” I looked down at myself, wearing faded blue jeans, a white shirt and an opened blue sweater. “I look fine!”

“Oh I know, it suits you but…she a fashion pony, she’ll try to dress you up in suits or something.”

“Yeah…not gonna happen, I rather not be someone’s dress up doll.”
She released a small giggle at this after I spoke those words, stopping as she placed her hoof over her mouth, as if to try to stop herself from laughing out loud.

“Well, Applejack is rather friendly, be warn though, she might just shake your arm off because she’s that strong. Pinkie Pie…well…you’ll just have to meet her to get her really…you’ll see what I mean. And Rainbow Dash, she’s rather brash, she’s the type that might just come out and say what she thinks of you really.”

“I can deal with that,” I answered as she smiled softly at me.

We walked for a bit more, more like another eight minutes before coming to the hotel of where she was staying. The building was tall and large, from what I heard, it houses an indoor swimming pool, a large ball room, (right now still being used for the party unless it had ended) Im not really sure how many stars this place got, I mean, I rather don’t care seeing how im not the one using it. All I know is that this place was just too rich for my blood. No doubt when Twilight and her friends came, seeing how she is the princess, the place, or even the government is trying their hardest to pay for their stay.

“I’ve a question for you,” Twilight spoke after a bit as I turned down to her before we entered. “It just…it strange to me and I wanna know before anypony else hears us, if you don’t mind?”

“Gotta know the question first you know?” I pointed out as she only chuckle, with a roll of her eyes.

                “Well…Do humans have herds?”

“Herds?” I repeated. “You mean like…herding animals and such?” again she chuckled as she then blushed.

“No, no…oh Celestia how do I explain this…um…its when a stallion has more then on mare in his love life…and their okay with it…like, he has many wives.” I know there was a name for that here…what was it…

“Oh you mean a harem?” I asked, hoping that was the right word I was using. “Yes, I believe I now know what you’re talking about…but what do you mean? Is this ‘Herd’ common in your world?”

“Yes, very common,” she answered as I looked over and saw a bench, I opened my hand to point to it as I sat on one end, she laid on the other. “Would you like me to explain?”

“Please,” I agreed with the nod of my head. “This…perked my interests,”

“Gee I wonder why?” she asked as it was my turn to roll my eyes.

“For as long as the history books tells us,” she started looking to me and waving her hoof in a way someone of human nature would to add more power to their statement. “Mares have always overpopulated the stallions in our world. It was studied, even back then, that for every ten foals born, one of two of them would be stallions. This being bad for the ponies of course, for if there were so little stallions, how could the pony population stay above what is needed. That’s when the idea of ‘Herding’ came to be.

“It started off simply put, that mares in heat, and stallions willing, if not all stallions, would mate with each other so that all the mares could become pregnant. Simply put, no love was put into this, just mindless mating to bring up population.” I nodded at this as I listened, watching her all the while. “But there were few who did, as they did it more often then once with the same pony, grew to care for each other. So that stallion, with an average of say, three or four mares, married to join as we simply call our norm, Herds.”

“Interesting…” I said before she sighed.

                “You must think it…”

“No, no,” I spoke. “Not strange, just different. I mean, I’m sure anyone could love more then one person, or in this case pony. I’ve heard stories of human herds much like this, some of them…rather bad, some good. Just depends on the relationship I guess. Humans don’t need that, our genders are pretty much equal in a sense of numbers.” She nodded to this before I asked. “But uh…what brought this up?” she turned flustered as she looked away.

“Well uh…seeing how you’re a male and I heard jokes on TV how men here like having many women…”

“I’m a one…’mare’ guy Twilight,” she looked up as I used her way of speaking for the genders as I smiled. “I’m not really sure on the whole herd thing myself…maybe I would do it if I say had two or three of mares coming after me and I had the same feelings toward them. But if not, I just stick with the one girl I fell for.”

Twilight gave me a small smile as she got up. But before she went into the building she turned over and said. “Well, with a way of thinking like that…you never know?”

Twilight and I entered the main lobby, and I noticed that they had some ponies in fact working here, in fact, there was a pony behind the desk right now, and that was in charged of picking rooms and all that other sort of stuff. Going up, he at once bowed his head, he was a brown earth pony from what I learned, his mane a deep black, his eyes brown like his coat, and it seemed his had a ‘cutie mark’ as the ponies would call them, on his flanks, this one seemed to be a bell, the kind you would see on the counter. “And good afternoon Princess Twilight Sparkle, welcome back, is it to say the way I spoke of led you to the place of your choosing?” the way he spoke, sounded like he was British or something. “And who is this young man? A friend of yours?”

“Yes, would it be fine that he comes with me to meet my other friends?” she asked as the pony smiled and nodded.

“But of course! He is more then welcome to, he just can not spend the night unless he wishes to pay a small fee, and he is not covered after all.”

“I do not plan on staying the night,” I answered, as he looked to me and nodded.

“Just like to make sure you knew. Many think that just because someone they know paid for a room, they can bring many others.”

“Understandable then, to tell me,” I sated. “But I’m not one of those persons who will try and suck everything out of someone like some kind of vampire,” the two ponies chuckled at this before Twilight then spoke again.

“So where are my friends, do you know?”

“Ah yes, they have all retired back to the room, Miss Pinkie Pie just finished throwing the party for the young lady, we are cleaning up the ball room even as we speak. Shall I have someone escort you to your room?

“No, that is fine, thank you,” she nodded with a smile as I followed after her as she went toward the elevator. Watching as she then pressed the floor number of which she and her friends were staying, the small confined area of which we were standing in jerked; as it went upward.

I crossed my arms as I waited, hearing the soft clicks as it went up room after room. When I saw we were getting closer I braced myself as the area seemed to jerk up and down. God I always hated that stopping part! “You okay?” I heard Twilight ask me as I softly chuckled and placed a hand along my gut.

“A bit of motion sickness is all,” I said. “Im not much of the guy who can deal with movements like this, busses I can deal with…cars and elevators…eh not so much.”

“We could’ve taken the stairs,” she responded as I only chuckled.

“No it’s fine; it goes away after a bit,”

The door opened as we exited, a few went in to use it as well as the ding of the door closed was easily heard.

Walking down the hallway seeing that the place was more dressed up like someone of upper-class would see on daily basis. As I said, this place was way to rich for my blood…but I could at least soak in to what little I was seeing. “So…all of your friends are sharing a room?”

“Yes, we thought it be more, fun that way,” she answered as I looked down to Twilight. “Beside, we did a few slumber parties before, and the room has six beds.”

                “Six?” I asked confused.

“Yes, they gave us the largest room, and brought in some beds from other rooms to us…I guess their just doing all this for the reason im a princess or something.”

“Makes you wish to return to the side of mortals eh?” she gave a soft giggle at this and nodded her head softly.

“Yes, I guess you could say that. I mean, at first it was great, me becoming a Princess…but…well…”

                “Everyone sucks up to you,”

                “Not everypony,”

                “Everypony?”

“It’s the pony way of how you humans say ‘everybody,’.” I only gave a short nod. “My friends don’t ‘suck’ up to me, as you said. I mean, I was Celestia’s student, still am in a sense. I was ever sense I was a small filly. I never asked for things truly unless it was books for magic. Even though I was rather gifted at a young age.”

“Even masters must train to harden their skills, for even a sharpen blade, can dull within time.” Twilight looked up to me and raised a brow.

“And you’re smart as well, more then you let on.”

“Me, nah, I just know how to think…give me a freaking’ math problem and be preparing to watch me suffer…badly.

“Oh? What’s seven hundred and fifty-five times three hundred and twenty?” I just stopped and looked at her with a wide eye expression as she only giggled. “Wow, that face…so funny!” she kept on walking as I followed behind, shaking my head. “By the way…it’s two hundred and forty-one thousand six-hundred.”

“How do you know that?!” again she just laughed at my reaction as I just shook my head as I tried to count in the air of what she just said.

Stopping at a door, Twilight reached into her mane and pulled out a keycard, I kinda wondered where she placed all her stuff…even if her mane didn’t look like it could hold much in there. I went to the door to open it for her as she smiled, but as I opened it slowly... “SURPISED!” I jerked a bit as a loud party noise was heard as I was showered in streams and ribbons of different colors, blinking slightly as I noticed a pink pony, with curly pink mane and tail look up at me, a blow toy in her mouth as it seemed to deflate. “Hey, you’re not Twilight, you Un-Twilight, who are you, where Twilight? Ether way, were you surprise? Even if it wasn’t for you, I love to surprise new ponies, er I mean people!” she was speaking so fast that I barely caught a lick of what she was talking about. “Oh there you are Twilight!” she then somehow gathered all the things that were thrown at me, and showered the Princess with it as she blew the toy again. “SURPISED!”

“Safe to say…you’re Pinkie Pie?” remembering what Twilight told me of her friends and how she said I would know Pinkie Pie when I saw her…well, guess she was right.

“Yeah huh!” she proclaimed proudly. “Pinkie Pie’s the name, and doing parties in my game!” she puffed her chest out with pride, with a wide grin on her face. I couldn’t help but smile back…it was strange, she somehow could make anypony smile. “Who are you?”

“Uh…Brandon Casey,” I answered looking back down at her.

“Well nice to meet you!” she took my right arm in her hooves and shook quickly causing me to jitter a bit before she let go, my arm still going for a few more seconds. “I just came back from the party I threw for the little birthday filly, and hoohee was she happy! We became friends, ate cake, and sweets! And I still have all this energy in me!” she started to bounce around the room while laughing as I watched blinking slightly.

                “How…”

“Don’t ask,” Twilight stopped me as I looked to her. “Just…don’t ask.”

                “Well howdy there new comer!”

I looked over as a orange mare walked out of the bathroom, seeming just getting gout of the shower as her mane was still a bit wet, but more dry, it was yellow, and soon she placed a hate on top of it. Three red apples seen on her flanks. She like Pinkie, was an Earth Pony from what I remembered, very strong of the three types. “Names Apple Jack, AJ to my friends, howdy do?”

“Nice to meet you then Apple Jack…Brandon Casey, Brandon for short, or B to my friends…or Goku,”

“Why in tarnation do dim friends of yours call ya Goku?” she asked tilting her head as I laughed.

“I use to put highlight along the top half of my hair,” I pointed out, messing my hair up so it spiked upward. “And when it was like this, with the yellow, they thought I went ‘Super Saiyan’, so they started calling me Goku. Until the highlights went away when I got a cut.”

“Can’t say I know what ya talking about there,” she answered with a puzzle look as I chuckled.

“It’s okay, didn’t think you would,” she simply smiled and nodded to me as I did right back to her, turning, I came face to face with a light blue Pegasus, rose eyes looking to me as she held a frown like face. Rainbow Dash, if I remembered rightly from the Wonder bolts, only reason I knew, many people or ponies that came to the library talked about the upcoming show. Truly, I never seen them, not even a clip, to me, it just like…ya seen one air show, you’ve seen them all, at least, that’s how it is to me.

She shared at me more, her eyes slightly narrowing. I raised my right eyebrow, she did the same, I rose it higher, and again she did the same; what is with this one? ‘Well?” she asked after a bit of staring as I blinked a bit.

                “Well what?” I asked.

“Well, are you gonna ask me for my autograph? You know, bask in the awesomeness that is Rainbow Dash?”

“Should I?” I asked blinking. “I know that you are on the Wonder Bolts…but really, not a huge fan of air shows.”

“What!?!” she screamed landing on the ground before me. “How can you not? It’s awesome man! All the tricks we pull off, and how I can do the Sonic Rainboom…”

“Never seen this “sonic Rainboom,” I answered looking at her as her jaw opened up in shock, and before she could say anything else, Twilight step in.

“Rainbow Dash, come on, not everypony is a fan of those things like you are. Just leave him be alright?”

“But…ugh! There a show in a couple of days, and you’re coming bucko!”

                “Uh…no money for it…”

“I’ll meet you at the front gate,”

                “But I don’t wanna…”

                “Just come and be awestruck!”

“You’re not gonna let up until I agree…are you?”

                “You’ve no idea human,”

“Okay, counteroffer,” I said as she raised an eyebrow. “I know a few people who came into work who are huge fans, if you can get me a couple of posters, sighed by the Wonder Bolts, I’ll give the show a chance, deal?”

“Deal!” she then…spat on her hoof and held it out to me, I blinked as Twilight made a gross like sound, but I chuckled and spat in my own hand, and claps it on her hoof shaking once. “Heh, least your not as clean freak as Rarity is,”

“I beg your pardon, Rainbow Dash?”

Looking over, wow…she was…just wow. Her coat to me seem as white as snow, her eyes seem to draw you up to him, her dark purple mane curled as well as her tail in  away I've never seen on a pony. She held three diamonds along her flanks, and the way she sounded, and stood, made her look like she should be the one who’s the princess, not Twilight. “But I’ll have you know, that what you just did is very unlady like! And you sir!” she pointed to me as I gulped and leaned back again. “What dreadful clothing and you wore them to work? They are faded, and are those tears at the bottom?!”

“Uh…yes?” was all I could say to her as she tsk, pulling out a measuring tape, she came to me while pulling a chair over to me. “Arms up to the side please,” For some reason, I found myself doing what she asked, as she started to measure my arms, body, and legs. “Hrm yes…I already have a idea for a suit you can wear, all black seem soooo over done with you humans, maybe a red, or a blue! Blue does suit you well, hrm…yes…”

“Rarity…” Twilight softly sighed. “I’m sorry Brandon, she’s always like this.”

“Its okay…but Rarity I don’t need clothing, I've enough at home.”

                “But, these are ripped!”

“Only at the bottom, I work at a library, hardly a place where one should wear a suit, and beside, they don’t really care what I wear. I thank you for the offer though. I hear great things of your work. You are a mare of great talent!” she waved her hoof at me as she looked away with a blush. “And the spitting hand thing, yes it may seem gross, but I am a man of also gentleman like ways, I would never do that to one such as you. I bet if you go outside when it rains, you would melt for how sweet you are!”

“Oh…such a flirter!” she giggled with a blush. “That it! You are getting a suit no matter what! I am Rarity,” she held her hoof out as I took it with my other clean hand, but the way she held it, was a way I knew from old knights movies. Bending down and softly kissing the hoof, I smiled.

“Charmed I’m sure,” I said with a smile. “Brandon,” she giggled covering her hoof as Rainbow Dash pointed to her mouth with a hoof and made a gagging noise. Standing up, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands; seeing how Rarity kept eyeing my hand I used to spit into after I was up. Coming out while drying my hands, I noticed a lone pony in the background, hiding behind her pink mane. Remembering what Twilight told me, this must’ve been Fluttershy…and wow, like her name suggested she did look…shy. She would look at me for a moment, before a small squeak was heard as she hid behind the mane again. Wow…so bloody cute!

Already knowing that she was the shy type, I had to think of something to break the ice, hrm… I guess talking about myself could help. Going over toward her, I saw her look down slightly, not looking at me. I smiled, she was sitting on one of the in fact six bed. “Hi there, I’m Brandon,” I spoke looking to her. “Nice to meet you,” she said nothing, but looked away with her eyes. “So you’re friends with Twilight, I heard stories of the adventures you six had been on.” Again nothing…hrm… “You know…a while ago, I used to work at the SPCA, taking care of animals hurt or without homes because people just gave them up…I remember a few years back, we had a injured eagle…seems its wing was broken by something…”

“W…What happen to the eagle?” her voice…was so low, like a whisper. I looked to her, her large eyes looking to me as I sat on the bed in front of her own.

“Well…I was one of the few who took care of her, really bonded with me, and I was the only one who could feed her.”

“They are…pretty birds,” she whispered as I nodded.

“Very, I felt honored that she allowed me to hold, pet, and feed her.”

                “Did you name her?”

“Yeah…named her Phoenix,” I answered her. “Her wing healed after a while, and she was soon released back to the wild…well, it took her awhile.”

“What do you mean?” Fluttershy asked me leaning closer.

“Well…you see, she kept flying right back to me, as I said, we really bonded, but I knew she was meant for the wild. As much as I wished I could keep her, I didn’t have the skills or the space to have her about. She was a proud and mighty bird, and I wasn’t about to ground her. It took a week after her wing healed, but she soon went off.”

“Its too bad you couldn’t keep her…but why didn’t you stay with the SPCA…I went there to look after and help all the little animals, some of them…so cruel what some ponies…I mean, people do to them.”

“Yes,” I agreed. “It is, but I left because…I couldn’t stand the fact I was getting attached to them, to see them be given away to nice homes…or some not making it,” Fluttershy looked down, a great sadness in her face. “But I still help out when I can.”

                “That’s good…you love animals?”

                “Yes, as well as you?”

“Oh yes, I love all the little and big critters, they’re nice friends to have. Like my little Angle,”

We spoke for a bit more, Fluttershy, opening up to me slightly, but still shy at times; I soon got up as I saw Twilight coming over. “Your friends are something out…it’s like all six of you balance out,” she smiled as she nodded at this remark.

“Yes, I sometimes think that a lot, laughter, loyal, kindness, honesty, generosity, and magic.”

“Magic…oh, your Elements, read up on that, you each hold one yes?”

“Yes, I wield the Element of Magic, Rainbow Dash, the Element of Loyalty, Fluttershy, and the Element of Kindness. Rarity holds the Element of Generosity, Pinkie the Element of Laughter, and Apple Jack, the Element of Honesty.”

“The six balance of your world, interesting, always wanted to go to Equestria, see how it is and such.”

“Maybe one day you can, I’ll be glad to show you around!”

“I’ll take you up on that offer…but I’ve a question,”

                “Hrm?”

“You said there was another here…Discord was it, where is he

                “Right here, look no further!”

I blinked as I turned toward the open window, and blinked once more at what I was seeing. A strange creature unlike any I had ever seen. His body reminded me of a lung dragon, his arms and legs were different, one horn was different from the other, and a long tooth was seen on one side of his muzzle. He was laying along a cloud, wearing black shades, as he drank from a cup that look like it came from…I was going to say hotel but we are in one. Judging by how long he was, he was easily taller then me, that was for sure.

“Well…that was…interesting,” I softly muttered to myself as I went toward the main lobby with Twilight as she softly chuckled under her breath. It was getting close to eleven at night. Having stayed up there and listened to her friends chat, they getting to know me as well…it were strange how quickly they brought me in their circle of friends.

“Again, so sorry about what Discord did to you!” she seemed worried, as if because of him I wouldn’t be back. “I didn’t know he would…”

“It’s alright Twilight,” I laughed slightly shaking my head side to side. “It was…rather funny now that I think of it…I didn’t even know rocks could do that.”

“I was surprised as well…” she admitted as I chuckled softly. “So…are you working tomorrow?”

“Yes,” I answered. “We open at seven in the morning in case you’re wondering.”

“Excellent,” She nodded before looking to me. “I’ll see you then?”

“I guess you shall,” I spoke with agreement before we came to the lobby and toward the large doors. “Oh I forgot,” I went into my pocket and quickly jotted down my cell number and gave it to her. “You know how to use the phone right?” she nodded her head. “This is my number for my cell phone, if im not there, and you want to hang out…or something, give me a ring, alright?” she took the paper with her magic as she stuck it in her mane as she nodded with a small smile. “Well…thanks for introducing me to your friends, and tell Rarity not to overwork herself for me…simple clothing for me is alright if she is still considering to make me some.”

“Simple…is never her style,” I heard the Alicorn tell me as I laughed softly, and with a wave, left the hotel.
