Teaching A Bear New Magic Tricks

                                                         By A.X. Bueno

Bears can learn new tricks it turns out

True that saying was meant for dogs but it can be just as falsely applicable to bears no doubt

I'm getting off track though because I'm supposed to be reflecting on what happened two years ago to the day

The day a story was written about a man who became a bear

With a shady potion that made his human features slip away

So much has happened in these two years that I think is worth trying to write about somewhere

Which technically I have over all this time there's still plenty more to discuss and share

For example there's the skills through stories that have been learned

The potions making, the magic, the cooking, and plenty of lessons teaching abilities earned

Going from an man alone and unhappy with life to a more confident polar bear

Having his skills and character grow in both planned and also unexpected ways

Learning skills like being able to smell other's magic in the air

Gaining new magic's himself as well as a better grasp on skills already there

Cooking and writing and archery are some skills that I've been trying to hone over this time

Of course skills are only a part of things gained over these years of this bear reaching his prime

Along with that and plenty learned there's also been a good number of friends made

Amazing friends who've helped him and me grow so much support that I've hopefully conveyed

Really it's hard to believe all the changes both written and displayed

And yet it all started as a simple story about a change that I couldn't imagine doing so well

From there came an unexpected world of magic and spells

But before that there's was also a bit of charity and art in-between to give the bear a visual form

Which also produced changes that lead other characters and stories to be brainstormed

I guess the point of this reflective rambling is mainly gratitude

For just how far that first story has taken me and all that it's world and my life has come to include

The line between me and Theo has become kind of blurred with time but one thing is clear

I intend for him and me to stick around for as many as possible years
