Music for Half Orchestra No. 1 (Impressions of the Northwoods)
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
After studying impressionist music when i went back to school, i was very inspired and wanted to create an impressionist piece of my own. so in the summer of 2017 i began working on this while vacationing in the northwoods of wisconsin. the main reason this piece took so long to complete was because i only wanted to work on the composition process while i was there. so for 2 weeks from 2017-2018 I worked on this while on vacation, only tending to orchestration and arrangement while back at home.
this piece is meant to evoke the feelings and atmosphere of being at the lake front. the sun shining across the water, the breeze rustling through the birch trees, and the majestic stillness of the scene.
while this is my first attempt at impressionist music, i understand that this work is not entirely impressionist itself. It is sort of a juxtaposition of traditional tonal harmony and impressionistic tendencies.
