As Kuromi's familiar, Kiku is able to take on a human form. She often assumes her regular form as a bat because it makes it easier for her to accompany Kuromi and help keep an eye on her. However, she does not always assume the form of a bat. In fact, Kiku was in her human form the night Kuromi found Kiku sealed and released her. Kiku likes being able to go outside and play in her human form, and is always willing to help Kuromi run any errands she may have:). Because humans have more teeth than bats, the range and variety of foods Kiku can eat, as well as how easily she can eat them, greatly increases while she's in her human form. Kiku also retains her shapeshifting abilities while in her human form. As much as she prefers being in her human form, Kiku understands that it is sometimes easier for Kuromi to have her tag along if she takes on her bat form. That, and as a bat, Kiku get's the perk of being able to sit on Kuromi's shoulder:).
