I think this cold glare is very unnerving and if in a room with him would seem quite uncomfortable, like as if it were an interrogation. I also think even if he is not nazi I do think he loves his iron crosses, in some ways because he is not as such but still in the German army makes me think Glen Cambell a little. Also the fact you bring up swastikas makes me believe this character is supposed to be during WWII anyway and not before or after that war, still it is a nice image. :)
