“It's gonna be fine Buck, you're gonna pick her up, take her out to- oh crap!" I forgot to make reservations. I Picked up my phone and dialed one of my old friends that moved here some time ago. His dad owned a great restaurant in town and maybe he could get me some reservations.
“Hello" I heard after a few rings.
“Hey Sam, its Buck, got a favor to ask you."
“What do you need?"
“I got a date tonight and I was hoping you could get me in at around nine."
“Sure thing, I'll talk with my dad and see what I can do."
“Thanks bud, I really owe you one."
“No problem, hey, are we still on for skeet shooting tomorrow?"
“Definitely, it's been to long since I fired off a few rounds with y'all."
“Alright then, see you tomorrow."
“See you man" I said before hanging up and letting out a sigh of relief. I know Sam can get me those reservations. I straightened my tie and examined myself in the mirror to make sure that I looked presentable.
The black tuxedo fit me well and my hair was neatly combed back, instead of the usual messy look that I preferred. I stuck my cell into my pocket and grabbed my keys. I locked my door and climbed back into my truck. My phone vibrated and I pulled it back out, checking the message Sam had sent me.
'He said yes, enjoy your date bro." Thank you Sam, you are a life saver.
I texted him thanks before pulling out and proceeding down the road towards Lacy's house.

I knocked on the front door and was soon answered by a tall fox that I knew was Lacy's father.
“Hello Buck, here to pick up Lacy?" He asked me, his deep blue eyes focusing on me.
“Yes sir, Mr. Stern"
“How many times have I told you, you can just call me Charles?" He said with amusement.
“Sorry, force of habit."
“It's quite alright." He turned back towards the stairs and yelled, “Lacy, Buck's here."
“Tell him I'll be down in just a minute." She yelled back. He chuckled and shook his head before turning back to me.
“Would you like to come inside?" He gestured for me to enter.
“Thank you" I stepped inside and we both took a seat on the couch that was facing away from the staircase with an NFL football game playing on the TV. I didn't think that they got American football here. The Atlanta Falcons were playing the Cincinnati Bengals in the 4th quarter with Atlanta leading 7 to nothing.
“Who are you rooting for?" I asked Charles as we were both watching while waiting for Lacy.
“Falcons…you?"
“Same." Good to know we both liked the same team. We waited for about another 5 minutes before hearing a steady click sound coming from the stairs. I stood up and turned to see the most beautiful sights I had ever laid my eyes on.
She looked perfect, her pristine red and white fur shining in the light. The black dress she wore showed off her curves and I thought I felt my nose start to bleed.
“Wow…" was all I could say as she approached me took hold of my arm.
“Shall we," she smiled and looked at me with her sparkling blue eyes.
“Y-yes of course" I stuttered slightly, still slightly stunned, and walked her out the door.
“Have her back by midnight" Charles told me before closing the door.
I opened up the car door for her and helped her up. I took my place in the driver's seat and started up the truck.
“That dress looks good on you." I complimented as I backed into the road and started driving to the restaurant.
“Thank you; it's my mother's…"
“She has good taste in fashion"
“I'll be sure to tell her you said that…so where are you taking me?" She asked curiously.
“I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise." I replied as we sped off towards our destination.

“How did you get us into Foresters, It's the fanciest and most exclusive restaurant in town and it's almost impossible to get a reservation?" Lacy asked in amazement after I opened the glass door and let her in.
“I have my ways." I answered as we approached the podium where a well dressed tabby stood.
“Jones" I told him before he looked down at his clipboard for the name.
“Ah, hello Mr. Jones, if you would please follow me" He led us to a booth near the back where a large fish tank made up the top half of the wall. We took our seats and watched as the feline took out a small notepad and flipped it open.
“Welcome to Foresters, my name is Peter and I will be your server this evening. Let's start off with drinks, what would you like?" he asked in a professional manner.
“What do you think Lacy, you're the wine expert." I said while browsing the selection of wines they had on the menus in front of us.
“…The Diana Madeline Cabernet Merlot is the best wine on the menu."
“We'll take that"
“Excellent choice" he told us as he wrote it down on the pad.
“But Buck, that so expensive."
“Don't worry, you can get whatever you like, it's all on me." I told her. I was willing to spare any expense necessary to make sure she has a nice night.
“Are you ready to order?"
“Yes, I'll take the rib-eye steak, medium-well please"
“Same"
“Magnificent decisions, your meal will be out shortly." He closed the pad and walked off.
“How can you afford all of this?" Lacy looked a little guilty, as if she made me spend all of that money on her.
“Like I said earlier, don't worry about it." She still had a guilty expression, but didn't press the question any more. We talked about random things while we waited for our food, Work, school, life, stuff like that.
Our order was brought out rather quickly and the waiter came back with our food and the wine after about 15 minutes.
Red liquid filled wineglass
“Bon appétit"
“Thank you" I told him and watched as Lacy cut off a piece and placed it in her jaws.
“This is delicious." She said happily after.
“Glad you like it." I took a sip of the wine and was delighted by the sweet taste of blackcurrants and plum with a hint of mulberry.
“You know your wines" I said as I placed the crimson red liquid filled wineglass back onto the table. The rest of the meal was enjoyed in comfortable silence with the occasional glance at each other.
“That was very enjoyable, thank you Buck."
“No need to thank me." Peter came back soon and placed the check onto the table. I opened it and got a little lightheaded when I saw the price.
'256 bucks…that's gonna hurt my bank account' I thought and gave him my debit card. He swiped it through the card reader on his side.
“Thank you for dining with us, I hope you have a nice night." He bid us farewell as we left the booth and out the door.
“Black Ram 1500, Longhorn" I told the valet and waited for him to pull my truck around. Lacy was still attached to my arm and I helped her into the truck once again before getting in myself and leaving the building.

“Tonight was wonderful Buck" Lacy told me as I took her to the door of her house.
“I'm glad; would you maybe want to do it again sometime?" She smiled at me softly and placed a kiss on my cheek.
“I would love that" I opened the door for her and we both said our goodbyes as she closed the door and I walked back to my truck.
'Cost you an arm and a leg Buck…but it was definitely worth it' I thought as I started the truck and left my special vixens home.
“Wait till dad hears about this."
