“REG!!!"
Lynnette scrambled over to his side, nearly toppling over onto her hands and knees as she stopped next to him. She wiggled her fingers under his armor and risked checking for a pulse, afraid of finding him cold. Thumb-thump... Thumb-thump... She let out a relived sigh as she pulled away and rolled him on his back. She cringed as she looked him over in the low lighting, his entire front was covered in blood. A quick search of his body revealed a bullet size hole just below his rib cage.
“Don't die, Reg... Don't Die..." She muttered over and over again as she pulled out the small emergency med kit that she had on her. She wished that she had taken Faelynne's offer of coming with her, the medical knowledge that the fennec hybrid had would have been a welcome help. She was starting to apply the small wad of gauze to the nasty looking hole when his hand jerked up and grabbed her wrist.
“Ly-Lynn?..." He cough. “Wh-whah are y-you doing here?..."
“Shhh..." She hushed him as she stoke his forehead. “Its all right." Her voice was shaky feeling how clammy his skin was. “I came to help, so relax now and let me help you."
“N-no!" He nearly cried in pain as he tried to sit up while Lynnette tried to hold him down. “Got to... Stop..."
“Stop? Stop what?" She said in confusion.
“Control room... Get to Ops..." He pushed her away, not out of spite but of need if the look in his eyes were to believed “Hurry!"
Reg's hands gripping the gauze that Lynnette had placed over the wound to apply the needed pressure. She nodded as she stood up and left, stepping over him and the other body that was laying near him. She stopped momentary to look back, Reg had closed his eyes and was breathing, as difficult as it was for him now. She made a short silent prayer that everyone will make it out alright before moving into the control room.
As soon as she entered she was overwhelmed with flashing lights and red warnings on the various monitors. She hastily made her way to the main operation control station and started to type commands into the main computer. Soon, not only were her eyes overwhelmed, but so was her hearing when it felt that every alarm, klaxon, and siren started to go off at once inside the room.
“WARNING! Primary reactor coolant system offline. Secondary coolant systems malfunction. Reactor core failing imminent. Critical failure in Nine minutes and thirty seconds."
Lynnette's heart dropped as she looked wide eye at the screen. “Oh god, that's not good...." She bent down over the keyboard and furiously started to type out commands into the computer.
Command Input: Activate Emergency Reactor Shutdown
– Error, Reactor Shutdown Override Not Responding
She continued to type every possible command into the computer as fast as she could think of them. She was slowly running out of both time and options. She tried a few things off the the cuff of her head...
Command Input: Activate Secondary Cooling System
– Error, Secondary Cooling System Not Operational
“FUCK!"
“WARNING! Primary reactor coolant system offline. Secondary coolant systems malfunction. Reactor core failing imminent. Critical failure in Eight minutes."
She was running out of possible commands.
“Fenrir! Faelynne! James! Justin! Can anyone hear me?!?"
Static...
“FUCK!!!" She slammed her fist on the panel in frustration. She was about to turn and run, grab Reggie and drag him as far as she could in the time that she had left. Hopefully she could reach the others and run as fast and as they can before the blast claimed the facility and the surrounding area.
'Wait..' Lynnette stopped dead in her tracks.
“Reg?"
'One more...' His voice still felt labored but the wheezing wasn't here. 'One more... thing... to try...' Was he telepathic? Or was she? She shook her head.
“I tried everything I could think of..."
'No... Not e-everything... The..' She heard him cough out in the hallway.
“Reg!"
'The Mains!'
Lynnette's eyes grew in realization as she ran back to the computer terminal.
“WARNING! Primary reactor coolant system offline. Secondary coolant systems malfunction. Reactor core failing imminent. Critical failure in Six minutes."
Command Input: Activate Primary Cooling System
- Primary Cooling System Activation Sequence Staring
Lynnette breathed a sigh of relief...
- Error, Command System Start Sequence Corrupted, Insert Command Override Codes
Shit!
She started to pat down the pockets of her armor and bodysuit, looking for the simple UBS driver that the Lycan gave her earlier. Pulling it out of the pouch she went to connect it into the computer terminal and took notice of a bulky device that was plugged in. Grabbing the device she yanked it and haphazardly tossed it onto the floor.
- Attention: Data Transfer Error, Replace Drive to Continue Data Download
“The hell?" Lynnette mumbled in confusion, she shook it off as she put the small device she had into the correct port. The screen flashed as a green bar appeared on the screens.
- Command Override Codes Detected. Downloading Override Sequence. Primary Cooling System Activation Sequence Staring. Reactor Core Temperature Falling To Safety Specifications.
Lynnette gave a sigh of relief as as she watch the temperatures fall into the safety margins.
“Lynnette? Wh-What are you doing here?"
She turned around with a hand on her sidearm as she looked at the figure who just came in. “Martin? What happen? Where have you been?"
“Some guys in white armor came in," He scratched the top of his head. “They knocked me right out." He came closer to her as he glanced at the screens. “What happened?"
“Some group of mercenaries had invaded the compounded. I'm not fully sure why they are here or what they wanted. But whomever was here and put the reactor on overload."
Martin walked over to where the device was and picked it up, looking it over. “This... This is a Data Miner. Looks like they were copying something, Any idea what they were copying?"
“Not sure..." She said as she turned back to the terminal and started to type commands on the keyboard. “But I'm certain that we can look it up in the main directory."
'Look Out!'
Lynnette turned back to Martin and swiftly knocked the pistol away from her head. She felt the slug graze the edge of her helmet as she attempted to disarm Martin. Martin retaliated by bringing a knee into stomach, making her cough and loosen her grip on his arm. He pulled free and went to pistol whip her only to over swing as she ducked under the strike in a roll. She launched her legs out at Martin and caught the human under the chin with the pads of her boots. He caught the full force of her strike and was sent flying backwards. Lynnette quickly got back on her feet as Martin wriggled in pain. She moved to try and subdue the human only to be kicked away, tumbling over another computer terminal that was behind her.
She groaned as she slowly shook the dizziness from her fall. She could hear the clatter of something hitting the floor near by and soon spotted the UBS driver now resting on the floor. Martin had yanked it out.
“Warning Foreign Device Detected."
“What?"
“Activating countermeasures."
“No..."
“Fragmenting Foreign Device"
“NO!!!"
There was an electric pop-hiss as Martin pulled the device free of the terminal.
“What's a matter Martin? Someone changed the rules of your game?"
“You BITCH!"
She dived out of the way as solid slugs whizzed by her. She ran for another safer location as electronics exploded around her as Martin fired at her wildly. When the fire broke, she drew her sidearm and made Martin run for cover too. The two exchanged fire with each other, making sparks fly whenever an electronic device was hit.
“You never were a good shot, Martin."
“Well I was able to hit your furry ass during our last training mission together didn't I? Bitch!"
Lynnette growled. “Bastard!" She stepped out of cover and took aim at Martin. She fired two rounds at him as he took cover before taking notice of the strange device left in the open. She fired a third time, this time at the device before getting back into cover.
Martin took a look at where the last shot was fired at. “You Mother Fucking CUNT! I'll blow your Fucking Head OFF!"
“You better step up your game then." She retorted as she exchanged power packs on her sidearm. “Or can you only actually hit a target in the back?"
“FUCK YOU!"
The terminal that she was hiding behind was showered in a hail of bullets, making her cringed and pray that the metal would hold back the storm of slugs that Martin was firing at her in a rage. It felt like forever before the assault ended and she was able to peak around her battered cover. She watched as Martin dropped the spent magazine out of his pistol and reached for another. She came out of cover with him dead in her sights and started to squeeze the trigger.
The sidearm slip from her grasp as she felt electricity coarse through her, the charge numbing her body. She was still well aware of what was around her and barely able to move her eyes around. She was glad that she had her armor and Nano-gel body suit on, if it wasn't for the body suit, she'd probably be unconscious before she even hit the floor.
“What the Fuck are you doing here?"
She continued to try and work her joints to get feeling back.
“Checking up on your dumb ass." A third male voice said, she could almost recognized it. “Our window to get out of here is closing soon."
She was starting to get feeling back in her limbs, but it was probably better to play as dead as possible at the moment and move as little as possible to get feeling back...
“No shit, this bitch scrapped the whole reason we where here."
“What?"
The feeling in her body was coming back, she could feel her arms now.
“The bitch shot the Data Miner. It's scrap now."
“Good job, idiot."
“Not my fault, dumb ass, its her's."
She could move her foot, but her legs weren't responding yet.
“Come on and lets get out of here. The Taft Troopers will be landing at any time and the rest of the hired Merc's are on the run."
“Just give me a second, I want to thank her for the trouble she caused."
'Oh shit...'
She let out a yowl in pain as she felt a hard kick to her stomach. A second kick sent her rolling on her back.
“You Didn't Kill HER?"
“... No... Why would I?"
“You stupid son of a bitch." Lynnette watched in horror as Martin stood over her and pulled out his pistol and aimed it right between her eyes.
“Wait!" The third person shouted and stepped into her view for the first time as he grabbed Martin's arm, moving the pistol away from her. Her eyes grew to the size of saucers as she recognized the person that stunned her. “The HELL Martin! She's stunned, leave her alone."
“ James, Shut UP!" Martin said as he got right into James's face pointing the barrel of his pistol into the other's chest plate. “This entire situation is because of her! She scrubbed our mission that took us years to get this far! You think I'm going to forgive and forget? FUCK YOU! I'm putting a bullet in her skull!"
“NO!" James shouted, pushing Martin back even though he still had a weapon drawn on him. “That's not part of the deal!"
“Deal?..." Martin moved right back into James. “The deal was off the moment that fleabag's boots touched the ground here. If you want her so bad, then take her corps and turn her into a fucking body pillow!"
“No!"
Lynnette watched as the two started to struggle as James grabbed the pistol in Martin's hands. They were paying more attention to who had the gun than where they were as they moved closer to where her legs where. As soon as they were close enough, she quickly coiled her legs and kicked at the two human's knees. Both gave a pained cry as they topped on top of her. She gave a grunt when they landed on her but soon joined the struggle when the gun was waved in front of her face. The three started to roll around as they fought over control of Martin's pistol, the other weapons in the room were left discarded where they fell earlier. Finally after several moments of rolling around, the gun was freed from Martin's hands and was sent flying across the room.
Martin first shoved James out of the pile then wrapped his hands around Lynnette's throat and started to choke her. She tried to pull the human's hands away to no success, the average Caushae were noted for being weaker than their human counterparts and Lynnette wished that it was the opposite right now. Giving up on trying to pry the hands off of her, she reached up and stared to push on his face. Her natural claw started to dig into his skin as she pushed, causing him to growl in pain as he fought to keep hold of her. James came back and tackled Martin off of Lynnette in a way that caused her claws to rake across the human's face, making Martin give a cry of pain as he tumbled off of Lynnette.
Lynnette coughed as her lungs filled with air, however, she still felt disorientated and became aware of something splattering on her lips as she coughed. She rolled on her side and wiped her muzzle. Looking at her hand she was surprised to find that her gray fur was now stained with blood.
“Shit..." She cursed as the two humans fought. She was slowly becoming aware of a numbing pain that was just below her chest plate. Reaching down to where she felt the numbness, she soon located a bullet hole just below her rib cage. “Oh... Shit." She wheezed, she must of lost quite a bit of blood at this point for her to feel this woozy. She heard a thunk and looked up to see Martin getting up, pistol in hand as he took aim at her.
“Time to put the cat out of her misery."
“BASTARD!"
Even though her vision was staring to fail her she watched as a bulky shape tackled Martin. She was dimly aware of the fighting between the new person and Martin, but it was getting harder to focus. She heard banging, but it sounded far off. Soon she heard shouts and commands followed by the sounds of another firefight.
Just as soon as it started, it ended, or did they moved beyond the room?
Soon her vision was blocked by a large shadow. “Oh god!" A familiar voice wheezed. “Lynn, Say something..."
“S-something..." She coughed weakly. She felt her head move and the weight of her helmet coming off with a soft clank on the floor as her head rested on something softer.
“St-stay with... -coughs- Stay with me Spots..." The voice said as she felt a wet hand stroke her hair and forehead. She was rapidly loosing consciousness as she heard more voices overlapping as more dark shapes poured into the room. Soon the darkness took her...
'I'm sorry... Lynnette... I... I love you...'
Her father ran up to creatures that she didn't recognize. Hairless features wearing full body armor and carrying things that she didn't recognize or even fully comprehend at her age. He stopped just short of the six person squad and started talking rapidly as his exhaustion caught up to him. He placed her down on the ground as he tried to catch his breath. The soldiers, understanding his situation, handed him a canteen that he took a long drink from. She however was momentarily forgotten.
'Where's Madi?'
She started to wander away, looking for her mother and brother. Soon she lost sight of her father and the alien solders. She travailing back the way they came in her young waddle. Looking around the almost serene countryside.
“Madi? Ruma?" She called out as she looked around.
'Lynstess...'
“Madi? That you?"
'Lynstess, this way...'
She started to follow the voice that she heard. “Madi, that you? Where are you?"
'This way...'
She continued to follow the voice that she heard, soon the serene landscape was replace by an ocean of black as far as the eye could see. As she moved forward she soon spotted a figure that was standing in the distance. “Madi? MADI!" She happily squealed as her waddle turned into a sprint towards the figure. The closer she got the more things seemed... off... I looked like her mother, it had her clothes on, but she was standing in the icky black with her back to her. “Madi?..."
What turned around and looked at her was the stuff of nightmares.
She screamed.
'Come Lynstess... Join us... be with us...'
What could only be described as a monster stalked towards her, arms held out to grab her. The flesh was consumed by the black liquid as it oozed off the bone.
“NULYA! MADI!!"
'Join us Lynstess'
“Ruma?.."
“Join us Lynstess Ruma...
“NULYA!!!!" She cried as she cowered into a ball. Tears streaking down her face as she hid herself from the nightmare. The now skeletal thing crept closer and reach out to her.
“Lynstess! NO!" She heard a voice call before a shape ran passed her and tackled the monster in front of her away. She looked up and gasp.
“PARI!!!" She watched in horror as the ooze crept up his body, consuming him like it did countless others...
'Run Lunstess, save yourself! Get away from this nightmare and come into your own. Make your clan proud, make us proud, make me proud...'
“Nulya! Padi!!" She cried, reaching out to her father as he was enveloped by the black ooze. She felt a pair of strong hands pick her up and carried her away. “PADI!" She cried as she reached for her father, struggling to free herself from the human solder's grasp to no avail. Two more flanked the solder that was carrying her and aimed their strange weapons at the black mass that was her father. Soon streams of fire leaped from the muzzle of the weapons and coated the area in orange flames. The three retreated with her to a waiting drop ship and quickly boarded. The ship started to whine so loud that it hurt her ears. Soon they were air born and heading to who knows where. She could hear the group of solders talking over the engines, but she couldn't understand their language. All she did, and all she could do was cry into the solder's shoulders as he gently rubbed her back in sympathy...
Pain...
God that feeling again...
Pain...
Why was she feeling pain? Her whole body was hurting...
The feeling was getting too familiar...
Beeping of a machine was coming into focus as she came around along with the sound of air blowing around her. She could feel the recycled air blowing wisp of her hair and fur around. Her nose caught the scent of chemicals, most likely meant to sterilize the room, to her it was almost repulsive.
Her eyes open slowly, letting in the dim artificial light that was surrounding her in. The room was a blur of darkness as her eyes adjusted to darken room. She knew she was in the infirmary just by the heart monitor and strong chemicals that almost burn her nose, her sight was just confirming it. Her head was facing the wall, away from any possible visitors or nurses that might be in the room. She let out a pain groan as she moved her head. She winced and closed her eyes again.
Damn... Just moving her head hurt... What happened to her?... Everything was so sore, she didn't want to move.
“Don't worry," A somewhat familiar voice softly spoke. “You're safe. If you need to, just rest some more. Your body needs as much as it can get with everything that you've put it through."
Her eyes darted around looking around for the source of the voice. Tilting her head to look around the room, she finally spotted a figure standing by a window looking out as they stroked their chin. She squinted trying to recognize the figure. “Reg?..."
They momentary stopped what they were doing and she noticed the slouch that they did when she said the name. “Afraid not Ms. Wilkes."
“Who?..." The person stepped stepped away from the window and closer to the bed she was on. It took her several long moments before it dawned on her who was in the room with her. “Oh..." She glared at him, the man that had not only threaten her career, but Reg's too. “It's you..."
“Yes, its me..."
“What do you want?" She huffed as she attempted to readjust in the bed.
If he had more animal ears at that moment, they might have been spayed out as he spoke. “To say that, I am sorry." She looked at him confused, did she seriously hear him right?
“What? Sorry?" She glared at him, “Sorry for what?"
“I'm sorry," He started as he turned his head and looked at the floor. “That I threw you to the wolves during that inquiry, you didn't deserve that and even at that time I knew it. I am sorry that I took the brightest and gifted student that had walked through this facility's doors and turn her into a delinquent. I'm sorry that my decisions forced you into making choices that risked your life along with so many others. I'm sorry that I even put so many in jeopardy to begin with. I'm sorry that I didn't put a stop to everything as soon as I found out that there was a mole here. I'm sorry... For everything..."
Lynnette scowled. “Sorry? SORRY?" She gritted her teeth. “Our lives were on the line, and you just admitted to knowing something was going on but chose to ignore it! You chose to blame innocent people just to do what? Help them cover up what ever they were doing? To allow them to get away with killing as many as they could? Fuck you! Just who in the HELL do you think you ARE!"
The human sighed as he nodded. “I completely deserve that..." He said in a low voice. He turned to face her. “I never had a chance to properly introduce myself to you before." He stood up straighter before speaking again. “Cadet Wilkes, I am Director Ash Solus, it was a pleasure to of met your acquaintance then as it is now. Again, I am sorry. How I wish that we didn't have to meet under such circumstances."
Lynnette just stared at him in shock... Did she just hear him right, Director Ash Solus? The Head Director Solus? The founder of the Leviathan Corporation himself? The person who...
“No..."
He nodded.
“No... You can't be..."
“Indeed I am. I'm the one who personally sponsored your application, granted, its something that I normally don't do."
“But... Why?... Why sponsor my application?" She might have been sitting up now, but she couldn't help but feel like she was breaking inside as the tears started running down her face. “Just so you could use me? Why... Put me through all that hell? Do you even know what I even have to go through to get here?"
Ash closed his eyes as he crossed his arms. “Adopted name, Lynnette Wilkes. Birth name... Lynstess Okirea'ir. Current age, approximately 23. Birth world... Classified level Black. Date of birth, unknown. Birth family, suspected KIA. Was entered into the Kellos 5 orphanage at the suspected age of 5. Adopted by Taft Sargent Osian Wilkes at the age of 7-ish. Been on the move depending on his assignments. Academic scores varied depending on the location. After high school, tried three times to enter the Taft Military Academy only to be rejected not due to academics, but due to being a Caushae and because of the classified information on your record. And finally, was accepted here, two and a half years ago."
Her eyes grew wide hearing her birth name for the first time in her memory. Then to hear her credentials rattled off like it was from some computer. To say that she was stunned was an understatement. She couldn't even remember let alone knew half of the information that he had just rattled off. Her human father had kept her looking forward all these years, never once did she ever think to ask him about her past. 'Keep your eyes to the horizon and keep your mind to the here and now,' she remember him saying a few times. 'But don't forget where you've been.'
Ash sat down in the chair next to her bed, the lighting casting him in a shadow that made it hard for her to see him. “I can't even begin to know what every detail that lead you here, but I sponsored you because I seen the potential that others had simply dismissed. One look at your record raises questions in people's minds. Records can only tell so much about a person, but sometimes there are those who don't want to take a risk. Hell, even your father tried to pull as much strings as he could so you could live your dream."
“He... He did?"
“Yes, I even talked to him personally, though it was after I decided to sponsor your application."
“If you supposedly seen such potential in me, then why did you threaten me during that inquiry? Why did you tried to bury the fact that there was something wrong here?"
Ash gave a sighed before he answered. “I can't justify my choices to you, as again, I can't interpret my extract thoughts at the time of those decisions. I can however say that I knew that there was a storm coming. One that threaten to consume this world and everyone on it in fire when it came. But... There was a choice, a risk rather, that presented itself and I put my money on that risk."
“Can't justify..." Lynnette could feel her anger seething inside. “You are such a Son of a Bitch! Putting all our lives on the line because of putting stake in a RISK? A God damn RISK! DO you even know how many people you put on the line by betting on that risk?!? Do you even know many people had died???"
He leaned in closer to her before he spoke in a calm voice “One Thousand four hundred and thirty seven."
“Huh?.."
“That's how many people were at risk, how many could have died if that reactor reached critical mass and exploded. That reactor was an older one, probably put in during the Colonial Conflict era. That explosion would not only of took the training facility but more than half the jungle between there and here. So just imagine how big that shock-wave would have been. Let alone the fallout for this planet."
He got up and walked over to another chair further away from the bed that Lynnette was occupying and picked up his trench coat and what looked like a tablet. “Just so you know," he said as he came back towards her. “That choice that was such a risk but I took it anyway... Well, I had chose to risk this entire world and the fate of everyone on it, including my own, on the actions of a Valkyrie. Untried and doubtful that she might have even made a difference at the time, that even now I'm placing my faith in her."
He sat the tablet on the nightstand next to her bed. “On that tablet is data relating to a new initiative that has been brought up by the TAFT council, and I for one am backing as much as I can. They are working on plans of forming a new type of Space Marines, one not limited by borders or race. The group they're creating are the Mobile Crises Response Unit. These MCRUs, code-named Sentinels, Space Rangers, or even Valkyries, will be mandated to respond to any distress call or investigate any disturbance that might threaten innocent civilians. They are not there to enforce the current peace, but to create hope for the future."
“TAFT, The Sovereignty, and the Lycan Freehold Nations has already sighed the joint bill. However, they want to test the possibilities first and are looking for a leader for the first team to be commission. With my current sway that I have, I'm putting forth the name of the Valkyrie that I believe will make a difference. And that's assuming that she accepts the position."
He started to walk to the exit as Lynnette stat in silence, contemplating all that was said. Placing a hand on the door knob he stopped. He didn't move for a good few seconds, almost as if he was trying to decide on something before he left. Finally coming to a decision, he spoke up. “That indecent..." He started, causing her ears to perk and look at him. “That indecent, had over a hundred wounded, more than half of the cadets out there had to spend time in the infirmary. And the dead..." His head hung low, it was apparent he didn't want to say more but he continued. “There was a confirm forty-seven deaths... Eight of them cadets..."
“No... Who?"
“Micki Edmond, Ryan Gross, Jacquelyn Rivera, Travis Sparks, Gannet Boyd, Frankie Richardson, Rawr'Vex..."
He stopped short before fully answering. Lynnette could feel a pull in her stomach, something was wrong and he was afraid to tell her. “Who else?" She could feel the dread that she already knew when she asked, she's been feeling it since she has regain consciousness in the back of her mind. No matter how true she wished it wasn't, she couldn't help but to feel that empty void. “That was seven, who's number eight?" She still needed to hear it. No matter how much it hurt.
There was a long silence before the Director spoke up again, he never turned to face her. “Reginald Rossetti..."
The room fell into silence aside from the medical instruments making their respective sounds. “No..." Lynnette's eyes grew wide in shock as the news slowly sunk into her. “You're lying..." Her head shaking in disbelief. “It... It can't be..."
Ash didn't linger any longer than necessary inside the room, he could already feel her heart split in two at the news as he opened the door and made his exit. In the hallway, he pushed the door closed again as his head rested against the door. He didn't need the gift that he was given, nor did he have to listen closely as the realization hit the snow leopard. He couldn't help but think back and draw similarities to events that had changed his life years ago, but unlike him back then, she still had something that he had lost.
He stood up strait as the sounds of foot steps reached his ears, soon a hybrid rounded the corner. She stopped as soon as she seen him. “Oh, Hello."
“Morning Cadet..." He trailed off, trying to match a name to the face in front of him.
“Faelynn Aleira."
“Faelynn Aleira..." He repeated to himself in a low voice. “I feel that I should apologies. I seem to always have a bad time putting a name to a face unless I hear it enough."
“That seems to be a common trait among humanoids."
He nodded. “Indeed, doing some rounds cadet?"
She shook her head “No. I'm hear to check up on a friend who's been in a coma for the last five days before I start my intern rounds."
“In that case, I won't hold you up any longer." He moved out of her way and started to walk down the hall only to stop again. “Ms Aleira..."
“Hmm?"
“Don't worry about your studies or internship today, I'll have a word with the staff so you can take the day off." The fennec looked at him in confusion, but before she could say anything, he added, “Ms Wilkes... Will be needing you for a while. If you know of anymore of her friends, its best that you have them come over. I will ask the receptionist to make a list so anyone who was supposed to be in training won't get in trouble."
Faelynne was bemused by what he said. She skeptically watched him leave before turning to the door. When she open the door, her heart sank. The sounds of the Caushae crying filled the room and now spilled out into the hallway. Faelynne's head shot back to the man that was walking away. It didn't take a psychic to know that if looks could kill, the man would have been dead well before he hit the floor...
And without giving too much away with what I have plan for the next "episode", I think that I have a bit of a different take on the test and that Lynnette will need her quick wit to pull through. Although, she'll already be facing a few internal demons if I do the planned next chapter.
As far as the crew goes, I am more than happy to say that Faelynne and Rayne will be joining the crew once she gets her ship, as well as introducing Marus (a black wolf Lycan) and Marisa (a Lycan engineer) as well as a few other species that have made appearances in my A.E. Universe, and once it starts expanding even more that yet have appeared as well as returning characters of earlier series ^^
Very well written and very good story. I'm glad to have found it. I'm looking forward to read the new stories when you have them ready.
I had a good majority of these stories kicking around for years and because of the way DeviantArt was with my stuff, I got rather timid on doing these with the idea that no one would enjoy these.
Thinking back, I am so glad that I commissioned Sniperspartan for Cry Wolf as that got me to write “Lost Kitten” and come back to this story universe
Really, it’s nothing to do with DA itself, but I occasionally need to have some reassurance that people like what I am doing.
Mostly what gets people’s attention there are my 3D Sketchup models that I have posted there, there were views of the stories and art, but I rarely get favs with my art and nothing from my stories
So I just post the stuff that gets attention
and currently at... 829 notifications with all the faves, stars, and comments heh
Anyway, this is my FA and my DA pages

As far as reading more with D Frost, a Lot of his story has yet to be written sadly, aside from here in Ride of the Valkyrie,
he makes an appearance (keeping in this universe cannon)
