After defeating the Axis forces, the crew of the U.S.S. Savannah were awarded with the highest honors, and all given a chance for some well earned R and R. Captain Benjamin Washer found himself at a seaside resort in the Hawaiian Islands with Lieutenant Karen Swanson. One evening, as he observed Karen standing on the balcony staring at the sunset, Benjamin found himself feeling something he hadn't felt in several years; Love. Ever since the untimely death of his previous wife, Emily, as well as their unborn child, Benjamin was convinced that love would never come around a second time. But here he was, side by side with the most amazing, most courageous, and most beautiful woman he had ever had the privilege to fight alongside. After going through the second world war with her, he was more sure than ever that he loved Karen.

It was at that moment that Karen turned around and beckoned for him to join her at the railing. Benjamin did so, wrapping his arms around her stomach and moving in close to her. Karen allowed him to do so, letting him know that she loved him too. With the warm feeling of the tropical air all around them, Benjamin Washer and Karen Swanson were more sure than ever that this was who they were meant to be with in war or in peace.
