I will always associate the Catalina with the Navy, but the AAF used them as well.

Hahaha, so many people say "SNAFU" without knowing the acronym XD

Private Snafu cartoons were classic.

I remember learning about those cartoons from the old show on Cartoon Network back in the mid 2000's called Toon Heads. Also did see some of them on Youtube a couple years ago.

And that was nto the only one. There was an entire progression. Here is the list from Urban Dictionary. (I still think that the R in FUBAR means repair, not recognition.)

SNAFU
One of a progression of military situational indicators:

1. SNAFU - Situation Normal, All Fucked Up - Thing are running normally.
2. TARFUN - Things Are Really Fucked Up Now - Houston, we have a problem.
3. FUBAR - Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition - Burn it to the ground and start over from scratch; it's totally destroyed.

One more frequently used - NFG... often a FUBAR out of the box instead of used.

Not sure if that comes before the SNAFU or is a subspecies of FUBAR.
