As for the sphinx, he doesn't usually eat things nearly this big. Presumably he's hoping the drake will pass out from lack of air and quietly digest away. Failing that, he's a pretty tough kitty and would hope that his stomach (and his paws wrapped around it) would win the fight. Big meals like this are always risky.
