Chapter 9: Meet the New Quarterbacks
The next day, Sasha head was soaring through the clouds as she waited for her color guard practice to start. The captain entered the gymnasium carrying portable speakers with a teacher. The captain's eyes locked onto her, and she smiled happily. “Wow, you're like fifteen minutes early" she said.
Sasha smiled. “Yea, I thought since there's only today and tomorrow, maybe y'all could show me what routines y'all are doing" she said.
The captain paused. “Well, I'm not worried about you. Most of our squad is new, so we've been doing the basics. We're just now getting onto the coordination" she said before she sat down beside her. “My name is Barbra by the way" she said happily. She cleared her throat. “I'm sorry about Olivia, but that's how cheerleaders act I guess" she said.
Sasha smirked. “Did you find out what Zoe did you her?" she asked.
Barbra looked over at the Teacher who was busy bringing in props before she leaned next to her ear. “I heard that Zoe purposely rammed her body into her as she walked past her. So hard in fact that a couple socks flew out her bra" she said.
Sasha stared at her bemused. “Socks? What was she doing with…" she muttered before a sadistic grin crept on her face? “Oh, wow! She stuffs her bras?" she asked.
Barbra nodded with a smile. “Yup, you've got like the biggest tits in the school, and she can't stand to have all the guys looking at you" she said before she leaned back.
Sasha snickered. “Thanks, I'm starting to feel even better today. I thought I could get away from the bullying, but I've made some good friends at least" she said.
Barbra's smile only grew wider. “Man, I can't believe you made friends with Zoe, and you're dating Toby too? How did you manage that?" she said.
Sasha looked at the floor and twiddled her thumbs. “Well…I guess they are just really good friends. Zoe was the one who coached him to ask me out. I would have thought a guy like him would be a lot more confident being his size and all" she said.
Barbra nodded. “Yea, he's always a shy guy…though, there's something about him that is a little intimidating to him. Though this year, it's gone past Zoe scary. I heard Henderson's lungs popped like a balloon" she said.
Sasha looked up at her and smiled. “Toby's a real sweet guy. He's nice to my brother. He's also really smart…and gentle…" she said trailing off in deep thought.
Barbra looked into her eyes and smiled. “You two really make a perfect couple I think" she complimented. “So…how long have you been with him?" she asked.
Sasha fidgeted with her fingers. “About two weeks so far. I know it seems fast, but…I kinda…well…I don't know what happened. He just makes me feel safe and comfortable, but…I want something that lasts…I'm not going to let his good looks cloud my judgement" she said.
“Hehe, more than it already has?" Barbra asked.
“Um, well
Barbra nodded before she pulled out her phone checking the time. She let out a frustrated growl. “Where are they!?" she raised her voice.
The teacher came up to her with measuring tape and tablet. “Do you know what your measurements are?" she asked.
Sasha blushed. “Yes, ma'am…I'm um…48-32-60 and 5 feet 6 inches" she said timidly.
The teacher sighed. “And your bra size?" she asked. Sasha blushed even redder, which the teacher placed her hand on her hip. “Look, hun, this is how the form is filled. I have to get the order in soon. We don't have much on time" she said apathetically.
“48 J, ma'am" she said looking at the girls snickering amongst themselves. She knew they were gossiping about her dimensions.
“That's not natural" One managed to say.
The teacher pecked away at the tablet before she smiled at her. “Thank you…I think we'll do alright. Should be in by Friday" she said. She looked at the group of students walking in gossiping, which the teacher was very unhappy. “You're late!" she boomed.
The students looked up at her worried. “Weren't we supposed to meet with the band today?" one asked.
The teacher shook her head. “They moved it to Thursday. I told you to write it in your schedule last week" she said.
Barbra got up and glared at them. “You can't keep showing up late! We have to get ready by Friday you guys!" she said before she looked towards Sasha. “I'd like for you to meet Sasha; she's been on Color guard for three years. Maybe you can learn a thing or two from her" she said sternly.
The teacher sighed heavily. “Alright…let's get started!" she shouted.
As practice was ending, Toby walked into the gym and sat down to watch them. Sasha did a much better job at focusing than the other students who were peeking over at him a couple times every minute. He pulled out his homework and calculator before he began to do his math. Barbra looked at the broken clock on the wall with annoyance before she rushed over to her phone to check the time.
Some of the students slacked off and began to chatter about Toby and Sasha. Sasha did not hear, but Toby most certainly did. They caught him glaring at them, and they lowered their voices hoping that he would not hear. He grumbled to himself and went back to working on the last couple of problem.
Barbra looked back at them and clapped her hands. “Alright, that's it! Great Job everyone!" she shouted.
Sasha looked over at him and smiled as she made her way to her backpack. She sat next to him as he finished the last problem. “What you doing there?" she asked cutely.
He looked up at her and sighed heavily. “I'm doing integral calculus" he said.
She stared at the strange symbols and trigonometry in his math problems. “My goodness…this looks like college stuff!" she muttered.
He nodded. “It is…I'm getting college credit from PCC doing this" he said.
She blushed. “I'm only in Algebra 2" she said timidly.
He smiled. “This is just the next couple steps up. I'm hoping to get into Statistics next Semester" he said.
She gulped. “Is this all your prep for being Alpha?" she asked.
He nodded. “Yup, they've been really pushing me to take challenging classes" he said as he put his homework into his backpack before he smiled back at her. “So, how's Algebra 2 going for you?" he asked.
She blushed. “Um, well…I'm having some problems, but I'll find the solution" she said.
He laughed. “Are you positive?" she asked.
She paused and giggled. “I see what you did there" she said as he stood up. “I walked right into that one" she said.
He nodded. “I couldn't resist…" he said as he got up picking up his longboard, while he reached out to offer to help her up. She grinned and took his hand, before she looked at the eyes staring at them. She turned bright red as they walked out of the gym. “So what classes are you taking other than Algebra 2, Bio, and German?" he asked.
She grinned. “I've got Government, US History, Econ, and Global Studies" she said.
He thought for a moment. “I've got the same classes expect instead of German, I'm taking Psychology. You already know what math I'm taking" he said.
She pushed him playfully. “Hey, you aren't using any of that psych stuff on me, are ya?" she asked.
He laughed wholesomely. “Nah, we're diving into different types relationships. Though I'm learning a bit too much on why we are attracted to certain people" he said. He blushed as he looked at her intensely. “I'll use my powers for good" he said.
She grinned. “That's good" she said as he placed his longboard onto the cement.
He pointing to his board and snickered. “Hop on! I'll pull you" he said before she got on. She grabbed onto a loop on his backpack, and he started up slow and gently picked up speed. “Just tell me if I'm going to fast!" he said.
She giggled. “This is fine! Now mush!" she said playfully. He looked back at her unamused, which it was so cute she snickered to herself. “I'm only teasing" she told him.
Eventually he was able to pick up enough speed that he was going faster than the cars on the street, which she laughed out loud with her hair blowing into the wind. “This is great! You really like you run, don't you?" she asked. She gulped as she saw her father stopped at a stop sign, and she tried not to look as they flew past his truck. She looked back to see her father's perplexed and slightly annoyed look. She gulped as they weaved all over the road navigating the plethora of T-intersections that plagued the neighborhood.
Toby finally looked back to check on her, and she looked back at him nervously. “You alright? You kind of went quiet" he asked.
She nodded and smiled warmly. “It's nothing…I'm having fun" she said as they slowed down upon their approach to the driveway. She hopped off his longboard as they stopped outside her home, and she picked it up handing it to him. “I never had so much fun like this before" she said.
He took his board and looked into her eyes deeply. “I'm glad" he said before he leaned in to growl into her ear seductively. “I'm much more fun than what you've seen so far" he said. He looked over at her father pulling into the driveway, and he walked off giving her an alluring gaze before he waved her off.
•••
A couple days later, Toby had to rush to school by foot having forgotten his skateboard in his locker. He started to run at normal human speed in front of Sasha's house, but when he got to the end of the block, he got impatient and took off. He blew past Sasha riding to school with her father in his truck. He noticed that Toby could run way beyond a normal teenage human's stamina. He looked down at the speedometer and raised an eyebrow as it read, “25 mph". “What the hell?" he muttered.
Sasha was in the passenger seat rubbing her forehead vigorously, and Toby looked over noticing her reaction and he slowed down. Todd watched him trail behind from the back seat of the truck. Once they were down the road a little more and caught up in the back up behind the traffic light, he started off again. He blew passed them once more. “There he goes!" Todd muttered as he flew across the busy road.
Sasha sank in her seat in embarrassment as her father looked over at her as if needing an explanation from her. He could not find any words to say as someone honked their horn at him after the light being green for 5 seconds. He continued to drive on as they saw Toby jumping over a gate and cut across another road into the school. He vanished into the crowd of students, and Sasha grabbed her backpack as he pulled into the driveway. “I'll see y'all later!" she shouted before she briskly rushed out of the truck.
She looked around just as Zoe caught up to her, which she frowned. “What's wrong Sasha?" she asked.
Sasha looked at her slightly annoyed and very flustered. “I told Toby to act normal around my dad, and what does he do? He flipping runs past his truck at ludicrous speed!" she raised her voice.
Zoe laughed. “Did he go to plaid?" she asked cheekily as she walked with her.
Sasha looked at her oddly before got the reference. “Yes…yes he did" she said before she giggled.
Zoe shook her head with a smile. “Listen…just take my word of advice. Don't try to domesticate a wolf. Just admire their power and cunning" she said firmly.
Sasha scowled. “Aren't you worried?" she said.
Zoe stared at her. “I mean it's not like any of us have our own problems acting normal…" she said.
Sasha sighed heavily. “I guess you're right…I just don't want him getting into any more trouble" she said.
Zoe sniffed the air around her, and she grinned widely. “So, I take it, you've gotten adventurous and got a couple tastes of Toby, huh?" she asked. Sasha's face went beet red before she nodded quickly. Zoe snickered to herself. “Think you can handle him?" she asked. Sasha nodded once more, which Zoe nudged her playfully. “Better get a lot of lube" she joked.
“Um, not ready for that" she said as she opened her locker door.
“So, what did you do last night then?" Zoe asked.
“We cuddled…and then I massaged his" she told her before she shoved her head into her locker. “You know what happened…why are you asking?"
Zoe looked down at her pouting. “Well, I don't know everything. All I know is that I can smell wolf jiz off your breath" she said lowly.
Sasha put her hand up to her face breathing onto it and trying to test it with her nose. “You mean you can smell that? I brushed my teeth for fifteen minutes!"
“Psh, of course I can…You should gargle. You probably have a pint of juice stuck in your tonsils by now" Zoe spoke calmly.
Sasha made a face and stared at her. “I had a tonsillectomy when I was 7, Zoe"
Zoe's eyes widened. “Oh wow, you didn't choke on it did you? Did it squirt out your nose?"
Sasha stuck her head back into her locker. “I didn't know what I was doing…he didn't warn me fast enough" she whispered nervously.
Zoe grinned. “Heh heh, just wait until Olivia smells you" she muttered.
“What is that supposed to mean? Is it really that bad?" Sasha whined.
“Uh, no, I mean. You have to talk for me to smell it…All I'm saying is that, you might need to gargle, nuff said"
•••
Later that day during lunch, Toby sat beside Sasha, and the freshmen looked up at them nervously. Sasha slyly leaned into him, and Zoe came up from behind and slapped him over the shoulder roughly. “So, I hear that you met her pops" she teased him.
Sasha laughed anxiously. “Oh yea…His mom scared the crap out of him. I thought my mom was scary!" she blurted out as Zoe plopped down on the seat next to her making the table bounce. She opened her lunch box and started devouring her food much to Kari's dismay.
“Um, I don't want to be rude, but since when did the wolfpack take over our table?" she asked.
“Wasn't even your table to begin with" Zoe spoke with her mouth full.
“You do realize that Toby and Sasha are dating right?" Clare added.
“Yea, well, everything feels off now" Kari muttered while looking between the two voracious giants with disgust and displeasure with their lack of sophistication and etiquette. Clare paid no mind to the aggressive and sloppy noises that came from them, but Sasha's hairs on the back of her neck stood up being in between them.
The freshmen were both amazed and unnerved. “Say something?" Rea told Terra which she then stopped herself from hanging her mouth to the table.
“So…um…are you two really werewolves?" Terra asked
Zoe reached over hooking her fingers into the corners of Toby's lips pulling it back to unveil his razor-sharp teeth. “I dunno, does he look like one?" she asked all the while Toby glaring at her and growling lowly. They stared at his teeth not sure what else exactly to look for, and Toby grabbed her arms trying to free himself. Sasha scooted over out of the way, but Zoe released him laughing.
“Oh, I don't know what one looks like…" Terra said timidly.
Zoe snickered to herself. “Sure, you have…" she told her as she sat back down. “You aren't going to see any of us transform in front of you unless it's something dramatic or some superhero entrance" she said proudly.
Toby glanced at her annoyed. “They already know so…"
“I want it to be special…and pretend to be surprised when we do it, okay?" Zoe continued as she covered up his mouth. Toby's eye twitched while his growling grew a bit louder. “Don't let this party pooper ruin your club's fun. You wanna see a good old-fashioned werewolf brawl don't ya?"
Toby pulled her hand away from his mouth and held it onto the table. “What planning on staging a fight? Besides, they'd just get in the way" he said before Clare and Kari both took offense to his last comment but they held their tongues.
“Psh, I don't need to stage a fight. I'm just waiting for that bitch to have another go at Sasha. I'll be ready" she said as she stared down Olivia.
“So, anyway, have you like noticed some of the students acting weird? Like acting like wolves weird?" Terra asked.
“I have noticed a lot of weird shit lately. I've been stalked a lot lately. It's been pissing me off" Zoe said.
“Heh, the only thing that has been pissing me off is that damn puppet" Toby muttered.
“Toby, didn't you say you were being stalked too? Wasn't that why you growled at those students?" Sasha interjected.
“Hmph, they're scared of me. Just some teens who just got new powers only to find out they ain't shit!" Toby muttered.
Zoe laughed. “Heh, I didn't need to transform to fuck one up. Shame, I didn't even break a sweat" she boasted. She leaned in and looked at the two freshmen. “If ya want, you can hang out with us on a full moon sometime"
“Are you fur real? They can't come…they'll scare our prey away" Toby interrupted her.
“Sure, they can come. It doesn't take us long to catch a deer anyway…or do you not want them to see what else we do?"
“What do you guys do on the full moon?" Sasha asked.
Toby whispered into her ear, “Sex…a lot of it"
Sasha blushed and muttered. “Oh! Ohh…so…you don't want them around to see an orgy?"
Zoe tittered at this, and she nudged Toby. “When was the last time you've been to an orgy?" Toby growled at her loudly very annoyed. Rea and Terra were stared at Zoe and Sasha in disbelief, but Kari and Clare both blushed at Toby reminded of their time with the giant wolf.
“Hey, you aren't nervous, are you?" Zoe asked.
Sasha shook her head quickly. “N-no…why should I?" she lied. Zoe did not buy her bluff, and she glanced over at Toby who was not pleased with her.
“Uh, are you serious or are you joking?" Rea asked.
“They're joking" Kari interrupted them.
“Thank goodness…" Sasha muttered.
“Well, I think this conversation is done" Toby said as he got up quickly. Sasha grabbed him and gave him a look. He stopped and sat back down slowly.
He slowly drank his chocolate milk not saying anything, but Zoe smirked at them satisfied “Yup, you two are very compatible, nuff said" she said proudly.
“So…have you got to see him transform yet?" Terra asked.
Sasha held up her hand wobbling it around as if to say kind-of/sort-of to them.
Clare grinned and leaned in. “I think that you should show Rea and Terra later…we are the supernatural club after all. Screw waiting until something dramatic" she muttered before she glanced over at Terra. “You said you are a witch, right?" she asked. After Terra nodded, Clare glanced back at Toby and Zoe. “Wouldn't her parents be in a shock when they see the likes of you. I bet they are dying to know what sort of ghouls she hangs out with"
“Well you're the one to talk. What do you think when they see you?" Toby protested.
“Feh, You two are way more fascinating than I am. Afterall, how rare is it to come across natural born werewolf with immeasurable aura let alone two in the same room, from two different families…two well-known family names, might I add" Clare stated smugly.
“Hum, why haven't I heard of them?" Terra asked.
“Ever drop their last names to your parents?" Clare retorted.
“I haven't even told them about Toby or Zoe…actually, I forgot to ask them about werew…" Terra answered before she trailed off hearing Toby and Zoe growl. They all looked up and saw them looking outside into the hallway.
“What is it?" Sasha asked however she did manage to see the movement of a shadow.
“It's him again" Zoe muttered in disgust.
“Wow, that's really creepy" Clare muttered.
Toby got up once more and walked off towards the figure, which Sasha followed after him. “Toby, where are you going?" she asked as the distance between them grew larger. “This isn't a good idea!" she shouted as he turned the corner.
As she got to the corner, she was cut off by Olivia. “Where the fuck are you going, fat fuck?" she scoffed. Her arms were crossed over her chest, and her face contorted into a malicious sneer.
Sasha froze with fear taking a step back muttering, “W-w-what are you doing here?"
“Bitch, you ain't following him!" Olivia shouted as she gave her a shove into the trash can. Sasha fell over, and her elbow gave a loud pop followed by seething pain. She curled up into a ball and grabbed her arm crying. “Whoops, look how clumsy you are…I guess you aren't going to see Toby's first game"
“Olivia, you stupid psychopath!" Sasha shouted through her teeth.
“Hey there Olivia? Where's your squad at?" Zoe interrupted.
Olivia dropped out of her power high, and she looked back at her in horror. Zoe towered over her with her eyes glowing yellow. “Still powdering their noses in the bathroom?" she asked while a slow sadistic grin crept upon her lips. “Tch, how unfortunate for you to have no witnesses around…oh, and one more thing…since you've gone and done what you did to your body…" she said before she started popping her knuckles. “I can beat the living shit out of you, and you won't have the marks to prove it!"
Olivia turned, and Zoe grabbed her by her hair before she could run. She rammed her face into the wall while still clutching firmly onto her hair. “Where you going? You didn't think you were going to get away with what you did with Ashley did you?" she taunted her before she slammed her face into the wall again.
Sasha was utterly horrified after hearing this, but she watched idly as Olivia struggled to get free. She watched Olivia transform slightly and hacked off her own hair to escape from Zoe's grasp. The rest of the club had seen the whole thing, which they went over to tend to Sasha's arm.
“Sasha!? What happened? Are you okay?" Terra shouted.
“I think it's broken" Sasha muttered as Clare and Kari gingerly helped her back to her feet.
Zoe glanced back at her annoyed, but she heard Toby come back, and he was visibly upset. He saw the wad of Olivia's hair still clutched tightly into Zoe's hand. “Where is she?" his monstrous voice bellowed.
“Toby, I'm sorry…I shouldn't have left the group" Sasha apologized. This only made Toby more upset causing him to transform in front of the club. He turned facing the locker slamming his clawed hand into the door. Rea and Terra's stared at him in disbelief as well as startled with the sizable dent he left in the locker.
“Oh my gosh!" Terra muttered resisting the urge to touch him in his agitated state.
“Hey, don't worry about her. I already knocked some sense into her" Zoe remarked.
“Can you take me to the nurse?" Sasha asked him. He stared at her intensely with his lupine eyes, and her heart skipped a beat. “Please?" she asked urgently. She wanted to touch him, but she had to hold her arm to ease the pain. She needed him right now, and she went over beside him despite his very terrifying appearance. He hooked his hand around her hip and instinctively pulled her in close growling protectively.
He did not look at her, which he stared into the locker instead. “I shouldn't have left you behind…it's my fault this happened"
“No Toby…It's not your fault" Sasha corrected him. She turned to face him and put her head up against the locker enough to be in his peripheral vison. “Please, calm down. I don't want you hurting anymore lockers okay?" she said lightly.
He glanced at her, and she froze up forcing herself to act unafraid. His transformation had begun to regress back, and internally she let off a huge sigh of relief. He quietly walked her to the school nurse where she gave her an ice pack. They forced her to stay and called her parents, but to his anger, they made him return to his classes.
It did not take a psychologist to notice Toby's anxiety. Whenever he got this bad, he would wear his beanie and sunglasses; however, it did not hide his foul attitude and irritability. Zoe sat beside him in their History class, which the lesson was about the War of 1812. “Hey, you think you can bounce your leg faster? I can still hear the teacher over your stupid desk creaking!" She whispered to him.
He shot her a look which she stared at him back. “You need to fucking chill out! She's going to be alright! No use beating yourself up over something you didn't do, nuff said" she lectured him.
“I promised her"
She rolled her eyes at him and blew a puff of air up into her bangs. “Just let it go, you're beginning to piss me off. You act like she killed her…" she muttered.
Before he could say anything, his phone started vibrating. “Hey, hun. Doctor said my UCL was torn" —Sasha 2:45
“Is it all the way through? Or just a small tear?" —Toby 2:46
“I don't know. Doctor said I have to wear a brace for 6 weeks" —Sasha 2:48
“Did you tell your mom what happened?" —Toby 2:49
“No, Not the whole thing" —2:50
“Hey can you tell me what they covered in class? Maybe tell me about what happened in 1812?" —Sasha 2:53
Toby looked at his phone strangely, and Zoe was leaning over slightly reading along. He glared at her and tilted his phone away in a futile attempt to keep her from sticking her nose into his business. “Hey, you know…Jean is supposed to come over…he remembers the 1800s or whatever"
“What do you mean by that? He wasn't American at the time" He muttered.
“No, but he is British"
“He's not coming over to tell us about the good old days. He's coming to teach us"
“Yea, well he won't mind" Zoe said as she pulled her phone.
“We know a wolf who's that old. Wanna come and bug him?" —Zoe 2:55
“Neat! I can't wait" —Sasha 2:56
“Did you just text her?" Toby grumbled.
Zoe held up her phone to taunt him before she stuck her tongue out at him. “She's my friend too you know?" she retorted. He did not have anything to say after that, and he faced forward.
At the end of the day the day, Toby and Zoe both walked down the halls and noticed they were being followed again. This time they got a good look at him before he hid behind a student, which Zoe recognized him. “Hey Toby? Isn't that the autistic kid we saved from those bullies last year?"
“Yea, I think so" Toby answered before he stared off again. “He's not going to say anything to us, so we might as well ignore him"
“Toby, you can't be serious. He's been turned. What if he needs help?"
“Do you want to have more to babysit? We've already got Olivia to deal with" he griped.
Zoe rubbed her shoulder uncomfortably. “I said help, not babysit" she grumbled.
“If he needs our help, he's just going to have to come and ask us. I ain't chasing him down again" Toby snapped.
They soon found where the Supernatural club were hanging out, and they overheard their conversations from afar.
“Wasn't he scary?" Kari asked.
Terra paused for a moment and tapped her chin thoughtfully. “Well, He was also really handsome" she said.
Toby suddenly erupted in to a coughing fit after nearly inhaling his bottle of Sour Apple Gatorade. Clare snickered. “Not going to lie…he's one of the better-looking ones" she said before she began thinking about the other wolves she's been around. “Clean, healthy, powerful…big"
Kari looked at her and got lost in thought. “Yea…he is impressive" she asked.
A news reporter approached Toby, and Zoe snuck beside her but stopped to watch. The reporter cleared her throat nervously as she took out her tablet. She looked at her notes and then at Toby. “Um…Excuse me, Toby. I'm Stephanie Campbell from CSN Northwest, would you mind answering a couple questions about your up and coming game with Sheldon?" she asked.
He sighed and stood up, which the reporter's eyes widened along with the camera man. “Wow, you've gone through quite the growth spurt" she muttered before she looked at her notes. “How tall are you now?" she asked.
He shrugged. “7'3" I think" he said with uncertainty.
Stephanie stared at him. “You've got to be kidding me…you grew 11 inches since last year!?" she raised her voice.
The camera man laughed. “Stephy, I'm 6 feet even, and he's got a head on me" he said.
She looked back at him in astonishment. “Well…how much can you bench press Toby?" she asked as the club drifted over after noticing the swarm of reporters in the area.
Toby grinned with pride. “A thou…" he said before he looked up at Zoe shaking her head. “Errr…six hundred kilos" he said before Zoe smacked herself in the forehead with frustration.
Stephanie laughed nervously. “Surely you mean pounds? Six hundred!? That's over twelve hundred pounds!" she remarked.
He laughed obliviously. “About a thousand three hundred twenty-three pounds to be more precise" he said before he looked towards Zoe for help, but she was too busy rubbing her forehead to notice him struggling.
Stephanie stared and gawked at him. “You got to be kidding me…" she muttered.
“What, I can show you in the weight room" He grumbled.
She gulped and looked down at her notes on her tablet. “So, it says here you are on the Soccer team and the Cross Country Team? How are you able to get in all those practices and do all your school work?" she asked.
He raised an eyebrow. “Uh, I just do it later in the day. I do most on weekends" he said before he scratched the side of his head. “Practice isn't really that long anyway, and the athletes have it easier with assignments anyway" he said nonchalantly.
“Toby, you aren't supposed to say that part out loud" Zoe mumbled under her breath.
“Well, He's not wrong" Clare added.
“Since you're close to Zoe Cooper, can you tell me what started that brawl back at the JV State Championship game last year? Is she still bitter?" Stephanie asked.
His sighed with irritation. “Yeah, I would too if some misogynist told me I'd do well in the lingerie league. I'd bash his head in too" he said.
“Oh wow, is that what was said" She asked. He nodded before Zoe flew in and shoved him over slightly.
“Let's just say that the Catholic Church and Wolves don't really get along…" She interrupted.
He nodded. “Yea, that's true. We never did get along, did we?" he added.
Zoe looked at him and sighed heavily hoping he would shut up. “…Anyway, they are just going to have to deal with a woman leading the squad that's going to put them in their place, nuff said" she said calmly.
He nodded, and Stephanie stared between them. “Um, alright then…well, how has Toby adjusted?" she asked.
Zoe smirked with satisfaction. “He's good enough…He's awesome with high tempo and running people over" she said before Toby tried to sneak off. She grabbed him by the shoulder. “…No, you don't!" she ordered him.
Toby shot her a malicious look, and Stephanie gulped. “You know…I think we're done with him" she said before she feigned a smile. “Thank you for your time" she said. Zoe glared at him as he triumphantly walked past the crowd of students watching the interview.
“So…Bench Press thirteen hundred pounds, huh? You want to tell them hold much you can deadlift?" Clare joked.
“You know how much I can lift. Why don't you tell them?" He snorted before he stopped looking at them oddly. “Did you get more members?"
“Yea…we got quite a few more" Kari stated as the rest of them stared at him with intrigue just as Rea and Terra did before.
“Um, I don't want to sound stupid, but since when did Toby become a werewolf?" Percy asked.
“He always was one…All those stories about those teenagers years ago. That was when his powers awoke. Fact of the matter is, back then he was going all out, and now…well…you saw what happened" Clare said.
Percy stared at her. “I didn't see it. I wasn't there, remember? I only heard about it" he reiterated.
“It was nothing impressive…it was sad and pathetic anyway" Kari added.
Toby got onto his skateboard and headed back home, while Zoe managed to break free from the cameras. “Hey! You ready for our meeting?" she asked.
“Is Toby joining? He blew us off again" Clare asked.
“Heh, he'll join. He'd rather not be around school when we talk about these kinds of things. There are some men in black shit with us…they don't have the interest in keeping the peace" she said before she laid down her skateboard. “You know…it's not too late to turn back now before you go down the rabbit hole. You're in for some real fucked up shit…hope you can sleep" she said before she took off.

Later that day, Sasha father had just gotten home, and he slammed his door shut. Her mother looked worried as she stopped making dinner temporarily. She watched him come inside and stare at Sasha's elbow. “What happened?" he asked.
She looked at him nervously. “Uh…I fell…" she said.
“Oh yea? Did you fall off Toby's skateboard?" He argued.
“No…one of the cheerleaders shoved me. She's been bullying me…" she explained.
“Eric, that was why she changed her classes. Remember?" her mother reminded him.
He crossed his arms over his chest. “Still, something is off about that boy" he said lowly.
Her mother raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And what makes you say that?" she asked skeptically.
He looked at her sternly. “That boy runs faster than thirty-five miles an hour…it's like he isn't human" he said grimly.
She rolled her eyes. “I know he's fast…but he isn't that fast" she said pretending to be unimpressed. She smirked at them before she resumed cooking. “I'm making cheeseburger casserole" she said happily.
He grumbled to himself as he walked into the kitchen to grab a beer. Sasha started texting on her phone to distract herself from her father's prying questions. She managed to text message Toby and her other contacts before her father walked in still fuming to himself. She looked up, and they made eye contact but said nothing to each other. He made his way into the garage and eerily left the door ajar. Her brother got up and walked over to the door. “Are you going hunting again?" he asked.
There was a loud, “Click-click" that emanated from the door. “You could say that…" the father said in an intimidating tone.
Her brother groaned. “Aw, what are you hunting for? Can I go?" he whined.
The father laughed. “No, I'm hunting for something much more dangerous than a deer! Something more cunning and elusive" he said.
Her brother gulped. “A bear?" he asked.
“No, a wolf!" the father said semi-sarcastically.
“Eeep!" Sasha squealed. Her brother looked at her oddly, and she quickly rushed up the stairs knowing she made a ruckus. She went into her room and closed the door quietly before she sat on her bed and stared outside. She did not know why her heart felt like it was about to explode out of her chest, but she looked over at her laptop on her desk nervously.
Her mother opened the door and looked at her worried. “Are you alright?" she asked.
Sasha frowned. “I'm fine…I guess" she said before she looked outside holding her arms together.
Her mother studied her daughter's reaction before she walked into the room to sit beside her. “Is it Toby?" she asked. Sasha nodded while still facing away, and her mother frowned. “He doesn't know about Toby" she whispered to her.
Sasha let out a soft sigh. “I don't know…I'm just worried about him getting shot, but If he's not after him…then what is he talking about?" she mumbled.
Her mother clenched her teeth and touched her daughter's shoulder. “He's not going to get shot" she said softly. She stood up and forced a smile. “He's too nice of a boy to be treating him like an animal" she said as she walked to the door. “The church has organized a posse…they are looking for the one who tried to kill that girl"
“Olivia was the one who tried to kill her"
Her mother walked back over to her and sat down next to her on the bed. “Sasha…are you sure?"
“Yea, I heard Zoe say something about it when she was smashing Olivia's face into the wall. I'm pretty sure" she told her before her mother stood up.
“Zoe's a werewolf as well I take it" she asked. Sasha gulped then squirmed in place. “Dinner's ready, hun" she told her before she back to the kitchen.
Sasha sighed feeling that she was failing at keeping her friend's secrets a secret. “Just give me a moment…" she said before she pulled her phone out.
Her mother poked her head around the door again looking at her phone, and she giggled to herself softly. “You have been texting him a lot" she commented. Sasha blushed and nodded. “Don't send any nude pics" she teased.
Sasha gasped. “Mom!" she shouted. Her mother snickered as she pecked away at her phone. “Hey, what are you doing?" —Sasha 5:30
She waited fifteen seconds before he replied, “Eating dinner, I should be on in an hour" —Toby 5:30
She snickered to herself and smiled at his text. “An hour, what are you eating a cow over there?" —5:31
Ten seconds passed, “Yes…" —5:31
She giggled. “You enjoy your feast ;)"—5:32
She replied before she stuffed her phone into her pocket. She made her way back downstairs where her father and brother looked at her oddly as she sat down. She glared at her brother, and he looked away. Her mother walked over with the glass pan of casserole and set it on the ceramic plate on the table. “Alright Todd…do you want to say grace?" she asked.
Sasha flinched as her phone began to vibrate loudly. Her father raised an eyebrow, but her mother cleared her throat trying to get their attention as Todd stared at Sasha. Todd looked towards his mother's icy cold stare and gulped. “Um…sure…" he said timidly.
Sasha slyly snuck her phone out of her pocket and checked her text messages as they prayed. “I'll see you then :P" —5:35 he texted.
She smiled and slid her phone back into her pocket. Her father looked up at her before he was distracted by their dog pawing at the sliding glass door whimpering. “Makita, no!" he shouted.
Todd frowned. “Makita's been acting really weird since we got here" he remarked.
Sasha smiled. “We need to start walking her like we used to" she said softly.
Her mother nodded before she smirked widely. “You know, that Toby likes to run fast. Maybe he can help with her walks" she joked. Her husband scowled at her as she grinned at him. Todd ran his fork over his casserole as he stared at them.
“I can't be letting you go out with that werewolf about" he spoke up.
Sasha smiled. “You know…I think that would be a great idea. Makita really likes him, and he protects me…when I'm with him" she said. Her mother winked at her, which her father's eye twitched.
“That boy is trouble! I just know it!" He said sternly. He looked towards his wife before he looked down at his food. “This looks great, dear" he mumbled. Sasha quickly but quietly ate her food, and when she got up to put her plate away, her father harshly cleared his throat. “Next time you go riding his longboard…wear a helmet" he said.
Sasha nodded slowly. “Yes, sir" she said nervously.
She walked past him before he blurted out, “Always wear protection! He just goes too fast for you. He's too rough and one of these days you're going to fall that longboard of his"
Her mind began to wonder and her face became flushed. “Alright fine, I'll wear a helmet when I get on him"
Her mother choked on her glass of water, which her father stared at her mortified. “Excuse me?" he raised his voice.
“I mean it…his board I mean!" she shouted before she rushed upstairs into her room escaping farther embarrassment.
She flung her laptop open, which her dog continued to whimper and make a disturbance in the backyard before her father finally let the dog in. Just as she logged into skype, her dog rushed in whipping the chair with her tail and panting jubilantly. “Ouch! Careful!" she scolded her dog as she put her headset on.
Soon she got a video call from her friends in as well. “Hey, Sasha! You remembered to tell Toby to go on, didn't you?" Kari asked.
Sasha nodded. “Yea, well, he's doing his homework right now" she said before she grinned. “Oh, this is Kari and Clare." she said. Most of them waved before a message appeared telling her username 'Eatswithwolves' was logged in. “Yay! Toby's on!" she announced.
Kari gulped nervously as the rest grinned ear to ear eagerly, and Clare brushed of cat hair off her black dress. Toby's window appeared, which he was extremely nervous. “Um…I didn't know there were going to be so many people on at once" he muttered.
“It's a club dumbass!" Zoe told him off screen.
Sasha giggled. “Why don't y'all introduce yourselves to Big Bad" she said.
Beside Terra was a black-haired woman wearing black lipstick, simple white gown, and a pentagram necklace. Her green eyes scanned the screen with perked interest after the initial shock. “Oh wow…I sense an incredible amount of aura from him" she said before Terra smirked.
“Hi! My name is Terra…I hope you don't mind my mom peaking in. I told her about a super strong werewolf joining in" she said with a soft calming voice.
“There's two"
Zoe leaned in and waved. “Hello! That would be me. My name is Zoe Cooper"
“Did you say, Cooper? As in Bernard Cooper? The leader of all the Werewolves around here?" Terra's mom interrupted.
“Well, yea, he's my dad, but hey, Toby here is Steele's pup"
“Interesting…and a Wolfgang. Both of those family names carry tremendous weight. I don't know whether to be relieved or concerned with how much attention it draws" She muttered.
“Nice to meet you too" Zoe muttered sarcastically. Terra's mother laughed to her self and watched on as the meeting progressed.
Ninjachicken_0 was A boy adjusted his thick rimmed glasses and cleared his throat. “My name is Timothy" he said. He was very skinny and slightly feminine, and he giggled at Sasha. “So the Big Bad…might actually be a big bad" he mumbled.
GIR12 only stared at him intensely and bit her plump lips. She had very beautiful silky ebony skin and long and wavy hair. The others laughed at her as the only thing she could do was let out a small smitten squeak. “And the other one is Jackie…she's become a real fan of yours" Sasha said with a wide grin.
Jackie waved at him, and her sister craned her neck into the background. “Oh, that guy's really cute" she said. Jackie's eyes went wide, and she growled at her sister. “Can you butt out!" she shouted as she pushed her sister away. She shook her head at her and sighed heavily. A bead of sweat rolled down her forehead. “It's hot in here…" she muttered.
DrkPriestes joined the call, which she was dressed in dark clothes, wore eyeliner and had a white complexion. “Sorry I'm late"
“Don't worry Megan, everyone is still coming on" Timothy said.
Kari giggled. “It's nice to meet you all. Sasha has told me lots of things about you" she said.
“Likewise," Clare said.
Toby scowled. “So, I'm assuming you want me to give you guys a demonstration?" he asked abruptly.
They all looked gulped, and Sasha laughed nervously. “Um, are you guys alone now?" she asked. They all nodded slowly before Toby gulped. She looked back at her dog and sighed heavily. “Do whatever you're comfortable with, Toby" she said sweetly.
Toby held his arm up near the camera to display as closer look, and he soon grew fur and claws. Everyone's jaw hit the floor; although, Sasha grinned with satisfaction. Toby pulled his hand from the camera showing the extent of his transformation. None of them could find any words to say, and Toby gave a big toothy grin. “Do you need me to go any farther?" he asked with his gruff fearsome voice.
“That's so cool" Percy shouted off from Clare's camera.
They all shook their heads quickly, and Sasha giggled. “Yep…so y'all believe me now?" she teased.
Megan laughed. “I believed you when I saw him. He's an amazing specimen that's for sure" she chimed in.
Timothy blushed. “Wow, doesn't that hurt?" he asked.
Toby shrugged. “Not much…" he said as he leaned back in his chair scratching at his shoulder.
“You know…he looks even more handsome now" Jackie said thoughtfully.
He blushed brightly. “Um…are you serious?" he muttered.
“She's not wrong" Sasha replied.
They all nodded, and they snickered at him. “You're really lucky to find such a nice werewolf, Sasha" Megan added. Sasha leaned in and held her head off the desk drifting into deep thought. Megan smiled. “I take it you two are getting along well?" she asked.
Toby raised an eyebrow, while Sasha nodded with a smile. There were a lot of gawking at Toby's lupine features while Timothy leaned back into his chair smirking. “I would say she's fallen for Mr. Big Bad" he said.
Toby gnawed at his hand nervously, and Jackie giggled. “You would be right, but I can see that Toby has a warm fuzzy feeling too" she said. Toby looked up before he scowled at them, but Sasha laughed softly.
Kari giggled. “So, which one of you are the strongest? Is it Zoe?" she asked.
“You're damn right I am!" Zoe blurted out.
Toby shrugged, and Sasha laughed nervously. “Zoe is a very strong werewolf, but her dad is the true Alpha. He's ultra-scary, and she's getting to his level herself, just like Toby is" she said.
Megan came back with a book titled, “There wolf, there castle: Werewolf Hierarchy Analysis" and she began to scan through the pages. “Huh…it says here that Alpha aura alone can invoke very strong emotions of fear and anxiety to even those who aren't empaths. Some can even influence the immediate environment" she said before she looked up at them happily. “You know…They both sure got alpha aura written all over them albeit its potential aura I'm sensing and not his latent aura. Even though he's not the alpha, he's got the prerequisites to be one" she complimented him.
Terra gulped. “What do you mean? By that? Potential aura and latent aura?" she asked.
Megan smiled. “In short, I can only sense aura that exists in this plane. Supernatural creatures exist in planes beyond this one. It's where their werewolf forms go when they are in human form, this goes for their aura as well" she said.
Toby stared at the screen blankly. “Uh…okay? So, I'm supposed to be a fourth dimensional being?" he asked as he began to rub his head vigorously.
Timothy snickered. “Well…who says it's just four? It could be more" she said.
“That's right, you cannot transform only being anything less than four dimensional" Terra's mother interjected.
Toby sighed. “I wasn't planning on being existential today" he groaned.
Sasha laughed. “I wasn't expecting you out of all of us to have their mind blown" she said.
“I'm giving this a ten out of ten for most mind-blowing things I've seen" Percy added.
Toby's mother soon entered the room, and he flinched reverting to his human form. “Toby! What have I told you about putting your clean clothes away!?" she lectured him as she heaved the basket onto his bed. Everyone began to snicker before she looked over at the screen. “Sasha, are these all your friends?" she asked. She walked up to the screen and looked at them sternly. “None of you took a screencap did you?" she asked.
They all shook their heads before she let out a heavy sigh. “Oh, thank goodness…" she muttered before she moved out of the camera's view. “Clean up your room! I've smelled that putrid pepperoni slice behind your desk for 2 weeks now, and it's making me sick!" she griped. Her muscular furry transformed arm entered the screen, and her claws dug into his shirt. “DO IT NOW!" she growled at him as she pulled him off camera.
Zoe interrupted. “Just fyi, but Toby and I have a game to play in Eugene, so we're going to be leaving soon anyway. See ya later" she before she abruptly ended the call.
Everyone remained speechless until Timothy started to laugh. “Holy shit! His mom acts like my mom! If she were a werewolf of course" he said.
“He looked like he was going to pee his pants" Jackie joked.
“She's really nice…I…" Sasha said before she looked off towards the window. “Oh wow…I can hear her from over here. Let's hope he's intact tomorrow" she added.
